Day of the Dead- Box office Gross?
I can't find any solid figures about how much Day of the Dead , Romero's 1985 zombie film, grossed during it's release. IMDB only lists a foreign currency gross, and that's no help. I'm curious about how much it made in the U.S.
I know it was a dissapointment, but it only cost 3.5 million to make, so they wouldn't have had a huge loss.
Anyone know? Thanks for any responses.

It came out July 3, 1985 in the USA

It does not show up on this list... not a good sign...
I think www.imdb.com has it right...
£432,570 Gross... so it lost a crapload of money...

I'm sure it made up for it over the years, like many bombed movies, through video rentals and sales.

I had absolutely no clue that Day made that little of money.

at today's (literally) rate that would be: 794,979.76
count me as one of the few who actually saw this at the theatre.

well that is how much it made in one country, so that is actually pretty good, considering it's low budget. In the U.S. it would have made another amount, so when you combine them, it may not have been a total bomb.

"Let me tell you all about the box office, grosses, mon. You see, it's a little something like this..."
BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
(30 minutes later)
"...and that's the whole truth, mon!"

I'll try to dig up the numbers, but IIRC "Day" did indeed turn a profit...
(edit)
Found the U.S. gross figures: $5,000,000
for comparison:
Night of the Living Dead (1990) : $5,835,247
Monkey Shines(1988) : $5,000,000
Creepshow (1982) : $20,036,244
