Now that most major historical events have been filmed....what's next?

The Alamo? It seems like the Movie industry is reaching a bit with some of these historical references. Granted there's still a few good ones out there, but they seem to be in short supply. So what are they going to do next? The invasion of Grenada?

Hindenberg perhaps? 2 star crossed lovers meet, fall in love then BAM! They blow up.

You could do the San Francisco earthquake (not the 1989 one..though I suppose you could...the one earlier where the city practically burned down). Cameos by George Kennedy and Charleton Heston. Classic to be sure!

I'm sure I'll think of others...

The obvious answer would be September 11th, but I have a feeling it'll be a few more years before that.

All of these (Brian's virginity aside) have already been covered in fictional films.

The Phoenix hostage standoff, while not being that big of a deal to most, will probably end up on Lifetime next year starring Rita Wilson as the female corrections officer.

The Big Bang.

Will have amazing special effects, though because of the badly written dialogue will have little or no character development.

If you think most major historical events have been filmed, you don't know much about history.

Duh, I'm surprised no one has mentioned it, but the next thing we do is remake them all. Remakes are so in now a days.

What about Sap! The Passion of the Cherry Tree?
Two hours of George Washington cutting the famous tree down with his hatchet. It ends with him confessing the deed.

We need a film of Waterloo, Duke of Wellington defeating Napolean with the Americans coming in to save the day. Now which American or Australian can play the Duke of Wellington and which English man can we get to play Napolean?

How about the Norman invasion of Anglo-Saxon England in 1066? That would make a cool historical film.

Also: there are tons of non-English and non-American historical events that are deserving of cinematic treatment. Perhaps something to di with the great Ottoman Empire, usually ignored, though it provides the perfect exotic/violent imagery that is so adored by Hollywood.

It's supposedly in production with, you guessed it, Vin Diesel as the lead character.

Man . . . you beat me to it.

I was going to go with "Be sure to let someone know when it happens so they can start writing."
