Pre-Thirteen Colonies - Braveheart
The French and Indian War - The Last of the Mohicans
American Revolutionary War - Definitely NOT the Patriot
Civil War - Glory
WW1 - All's Quiet on the Western Front
WW2 - Band of Brothers or Patton
Vietnam - Platoon
And although it wasn't a Middle Eastern war, special mention to Black Hawk Down for an African "engagement"

Platoon is my favorite war movie period. I see it as Stone's best work and one that captured the confusion and brutality of war like few others. I love M*A*S*H as well, but I think it's hard to categorize it with the others due to it being a comedy, however it presented a nice portrait of what some people would do to keep from going mad in such terrible situations.

Here's some discussion: Black Hawk Down was in Somalia, which is in Africa, NOT the middle east. What's wrong with you people?

Just wanted to try and expand - to the best of my recollection - upon DVD Josh's and TREX1993's earlier posts.

Pre-Revolutionary/French & Indian - as mentioned already Last of the Mohicans (old & new), plus Northwest Passage
Revolutionary War – Drums Along the Mohawk, Allegheny Uprising, and the already mentioned The Patriot
Barbary Wars (as in “to the shores of Tripoli” in the Marine Battle Hymn) – Tripoli (old), looking forward to Ridley Scott’s version
War of 1812 – The Buccaneer (old & new), The Fighting Kentuckian
War for Texas Independence – The Alamo, The Last Command, The Man from Alamo, Fess Parker’s Davy Crockett
Mexican War - ? (can anyone think of any?)
Civil War (East) –The Great Locomotive Chase, The Horse Soldiers, Sante Fe Trail, Journey to Shiloh, and of course the already mentioned Glory & Gettysburg
Civil War (West) – Dark Command, Major Dundee, Rocky Mountain, Two Flags West, The Last Outpost, The Jayhawkers
Indian Wars (East) – Distant Drums, Seminole
Indian Wars (West) – They Died with Their Boots On
Spanish-American War – Rough Riders, The Real Glory
Boxer Rebellion – 55 Days at Peking
Pershing’s Punitive Expedition against Pancho Villa – They Came to Cordura
World War I – The Fighting 69th, The Blue Max, The Dawn Patrol, The Lost Battalion, The Light Horsemen, Grand Illusion, and as already mentioned Gallipoli, Sergeant York, Paths of Glory, Lawrence of Arabia, All Quiet on the Western Front (old & new)
Yangtze River, China – The Sand Pebbles
World War II – The Great Escape and many, many, many others
Cold War – Ice Station Zebra, The Bedford Incident, World War III
Korean Conflictsomewhat under-represented in film, but there are a fair number of solid movies from which to choose: Pork Chop Hill, Bridges at Toko-Ri, Men in War, Fixed Bayonets, Steel Helmet, The Hunters, All the Young Men, War Hunt, The Glory Brigade, Men of the Fighting Lady
Vietnam War – Siege of Firebase Gloria, Go Tell the Spartans, When Hell Was in Session, Bat 21, The Boys in Company C, The Green Berets
Grenada – Heartbreak Ridge (don't care for the movie myself but thought I'd list it for completist purposes)
Gulf War – Present – Black Hawk Down

Are there any other significant conflicts in which American soldiers might have served? And to repeat, can anyone think of a movie dealing with the Mexican-American War of the 1840's? I recall its at least been referred to in some Civil War/Western films but I'm drawing a blank.

To be accurate, I did say "era", meaning time, not region, meaning location .

Well since the Middle East is the birthplace of civilization i guess that the middle east era goes back a few thousand years and covers every war ever fought on the face of the planet, probably not a good idea to put in an era instead of a specific war lol, just kidding, back to the topic of the mexican war i could not for the life of me think of one except for ravenous which is really not a war movie but opens up during the mexican war,We need some mexican war movies dammit lol
