I don't know about this. If Seth can lose a few pounds and change his curly hair to straight then maybe it might work, but I'm not really happy about him casting as the Green Hornet.

As much as I love Chow, this is going to be shit. I don't mind some humor in my comic book movies but all out comedy of the Green Hornet?

No. He's the guy who got the team together in the first place. And the lead in Kung Fu Hustle. He was also Dicky's dad in CJ7.

After watching CJ7, it lowered the bar for me... while I love his films God of Cookery, Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle, I don't see that style of comedic timing approriate for the Green Hornet. Maybe for the Adam West Batman. I stated earlier that a little bit is ok. I mean, here's a billionaire that has no super powers and rides around in a green car fighting crime with his chauffer/man servant. That in itself is kinda funny, but I think with Chow directing, it will be over the top.
At least they're not going with "dark".

yay, Chow backed out of directing! They are looking for a new director. Chow will still be Kato. This makes a lot more sense. I wasn't crazy about Chow directing this film.

I had the opposite reaction. With Chow leaving the director's chair, so leaves any interest I had in this movie.

I'll regain interest when I hear word of Seth Rogen leaving the film.
I don't get how anyone thought casting him as Brit Reed was a good idea.

When I saw Seth Rogen presenting at the Golden Globes he looked like he had dropped a lot of weight and was bulking up. But I still think the idea of him as the Green Hornet is a joke.

Seth Rogen’s Green Hornet Not Happening?
Drew McWeeny over at Hitfix says the buzz at Sundance is that Seth Rogen’s superhero movie The Green Hornet is basically on life support over at Sony, and that there’s “a good chance the studio’s going to kick the plug out any moment now.” Drew reports:

[A]t Sundance, I heard several people say that the film was off completely. I spoke this afternoon with a source close to the film, and while they didn’t call it completely dead, they did say it is “highly unlikely” that the film will shoot in 2009 at all.

Man, I remember back in the 90s when George Clooney and Jason Scott Lee and then Greg Kinnear were attached. Maybe this franchise is just cursed.

Hopefully this gets scrapped and in a couple of years finally gets made with a cast and crew that can actually make a kickass comic book action film.

The Green Hornet Is Back!
Firstshowing reports that Seth Rogen contacted Hitflix (who first rumored that the film was off) and had this to say:
[The studio heads] have every intention on making it, and assuming we’re able to hire a new director in the upcoming weeks, which seems like a distinct possibility, it should still hit the release date.

Michel Gondry is in negotiations to direct "The Green Hornet," Columbia's big-screen treatment of the classic crime-fighting hero being portrayed by Seth Rogen.
Stephen Chow had been tapped to direct but dropped out over creative differences. He is still expected to co-star as Kato, the Hornet's trusty sidekick and chauffeur.
Since Chow's departure, the project has been the subject of speculation that it was sliding into development hell, but the studio is intent on making the feature one of its 2010 tentpoles.
The choice of Gondry, the helmer behind off-the-beaten-path films such as "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," "The Science of Sleep" and "Be Kind Rewind," signals that the creative direction the studio and the film's producer, Neal Moritz, are trying to take the project is one not usually associated with the usual crime-fighter movie
