Jim Carrey's playboy interview
wow. That was...sorta.... i dunno. read it if you can get it. Wow. I dont think i can picture him talking out of his bunghole anymore.
|
I haven't got my issue yet, but I know Howard Stern took huge offense to the comments he made about Kinison.
|
How about an idea of what was said?
|
Yeah, I would like to know too. Thanks.
|
Carrey said that Howard was responsible for Kinnison's death.
Apparently Howard once told Kinnison that Kinnison was funnier when he was drunk. The ommited fact here was that Kinnison was killed when a drunk driver crashed into him. |
Kinison died in an automobile accident. That's how he went, there are people who actually heard his last words before he went. I am a fan of Jim Carrey, I think he is a talented actor who has yet to but will eventually prove to people that he has range. But being the young superstar that he is I wouldn't at all be surprised if the the dude does his share of "euphoric" experimentation. S***, he's rich, he's young, you gotta live it up. I think he did this interview on the "comeback". Maybe Kirsten was right, after all.
R.I.P. Sam |
OK, I need more info. Who is on the cover of this Playboy? And who is Kirsten, and what does she have to do with it?
|
Does anybody have the actual article or are they paraphrasing from what they have heard elsewhere? I haven't seen the article, but they have an excerpt on Playboy's Web site and it says:
PLAYBOY: Many comics, such as Sam Kinison, seemed to work best when they were standing on the edge of a precipice. CARREY: Sam was in total denial. He created a beast he couldn't get away from. I'm not saying that's ultimately what happened to him. But I know his struggle. He was always going back and forth. He'd come up to me and go, "Hey, Jim! We're drug-free Christians, man." We'd laugh because I was always trying to be straight and healthy. Then he'd go on Howard Stern, and Howard would say, "You know, you're not funny when you're not stoned." And he'd be right back doing it again. And this is the trouble -- when you create the beast, you've got to be the beast, you know? I've got enough of a beast in me, man. Now maybe there's more after that, but he certainly doesn't accuse Howard of contributing to Sam's death, but merely contributing to a hard-living lifestyle that was not doing Sam any good. I got no complaints with that part at all, especially since it appears to be the interviewer who brought up Sam in the first place. But does anybody know if the topic goes on further in the interview or if that's about it? Unless there's more to it, it seems word of mouth and Stern are skewing this issue. |
After listening to Stern it became obvious that he was playing up the situation for attention and to try and get Carrey on the show.
The real problem began when a Page 6 columnist said outright that Carrey blames Stern for Sam's death. Carrey called Stern personally to apologize and say he didn't say that or mean it and he also issued a press release to say he did not mean that. Page 6 also printed a correction saying that it was wrong for saying Kinnison died of a drug overdose, but didn't go so far as to apologize for blaming Stern or misrepresenting Carrey's comments. But Howard went on his show the next day saying it wasn't good enough and that Carrey should "be a man" and come on Howard's show to set the record strait. It was clear to me that Howard wanted to ride the situation. His real problem should have been with Page 6, but that wouldn't net him a big celebrity appearance so he had to drag Carrey into it. |
Doesn't sound like a big deal to me either. Looks like just because it came from Carrey's mouth, it was made to be something more spicy.
|
somebody offends Stern?
Oh no, can't allow that to happen. |
so you guys really do read it for the articles
|
I hope this situation doesn't keep Carrey from visiting the Stern show again. The Stern/Carrey intereview from a few months back (maybe a year, now) was one of the best I've ever seen.
