Right. Most of the books that are really worth reading cannot be adapted into movies directly. The Da Vinci code's strengths, on the other hand, are mostly cinematic.

Read the book a few months back, looking forward to this movie more than most. For those of you thinking about the book, it really only takes a few days to get through.

got the trailer to work. the book was great, the trailer looks awesome. cant wait!

I can't believe I'm saying this, but unless the movie's horrible there's no point in picking up the novel. There's nothing of literary merit in it, and it reads like a screenplay anyway.

Save your reading time for an author of real accomplishment, not some paperback writer. Say, someone like Philip Roth, whose best work is lost in the various bland/defanged translations to the bigscreen.

Agreed...Much darker look than I thought it would be considering the director, but I had a fun time with the book and now pretty excited about this release. Have to say, some of the trailers for movies I havent been to keen on have been pleasant surprises. Of course watching the whole product may prove something else, but its a good step.

True, when I took Generel Chemistry first year in college the text was like 1000 pages long and I just figured I would wait for the movie.

But Freddie Prince was so terrible that I walked out halfway through and failed my final. :(

Moral: The boring books are the best ones.

If you haven't read the book, I would wait. Movies tend to disappoint those who have read the book, but the book is still good for those who see the movie first....often better.

I didn't think a lot about the book, but this definately looks like a good show. Agree with the concerns about Tom Hanks, but he generally is better than I expect, so I'll bet it works out great.

I think "so dark the con of man" is really telling us what Tom Hanks's next film will be...

Tom Hanks: Fear Condo (Like Panic Room, only set in an oceanside condominium)

-or-

Tom Hanks: Afro Coned (maybe he's going to be in the hip-hop version of the Coneheads?)

-or-

Tom Hanks: Def-con Oar (A row-boat comedy?)

Or is it possibly a clue to who stole his Pepsi: Frenchman Took Soda?

I guess we may never know.

Loved the book (I thought everyone read it) and the trailer looked great before King Kong. Definitely my most anticipated movie of '06.

The new one definitely explains more, I guess for people who haven't read the book. Personally I liked the previous one more from a style point of view.

Looks good.

I havent read the book either but really want to.
I noticed the highlghted letters in the trailer too, except I think I saw a different trailer at the cinema to the one put up here, which didnt reveal as much.
Maybe the UK cinema one was more of a teaser.

Yeah this one isn't as good and any anticipation I had has dropped a few notches.

Anyone else think that the trailer makes Langdon seem kinda out of it. He knows everything about symbology and the whole 'history' of it all. But when Teabing is talking, the trailer is cut to make Langdon seem like he knows nothing.

Trying not to put any spoliers (except from what is in the trailer) in here...but the people who have read the book will know what I mean.
