Where's the love for the stupid-funny movies?

I just finished watching Carrot Top in Chairman of the Board, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn't Citizen Kane by any means, but it was a fun movie. However, if you look at the ratings at IMDB, it gets a 2.3 or something, and most of the reviews are either blasting it, or facetiously praising it as the greatest movie ever made..

I have always enjoyed movies like this, including Yahoo Serious's work (Young Einstein, Mr. Accident,) Pauly Shore's films (BioDome, Meet the Parents, Son in Law, Encino Man etc.) and the Ernest films, of course.

What are some of your favorite stupid comedies?

I ended up buying Kung Pow.

The commercials for it showed only the stupid, sophomoric unfunny jokes.

The majority were stupid, sophomoric hilarious ones.

"mmmmm I am just a little birdy too."

"Wet Hot American Summer". I especially loved that scene where this shrimpy guy rides in on a motorcycle, but in one shot you can clearly tell it's (intentionally) a much larger stunt double.

listen to the alternate "sound effects" audio track on the DVD, it takes farting to the next level - I was on the floor in tears (a good fart is a funny fart).

I hate Tom Green, but I liked Freddy Got Fingered also. Rip Torn was hilarious, and that kid who always got abused had me in tears.

I haven't seen Half Baked mentioned. God I love this movie. Simply stupid, but insanely funny humor. Love this movie, a great stoner movie for the modern era. Anyone else quite fond of this?

But the king of all stupid funny movies...Airplane! I don't care how many times I see this, I just love it. And don't call me Shirley.

Yeah, I saw that option when I rented it, but only listened to the commentary. I'll probably have to get it again now...

Well, it's a lot different when you're talking about stupid films made sloppily and quickly, compared to smart films with stupid characters that do stupid things.

Bill & Ted films have pretty good writing, clearly written by intelligent people. The characters are dopey for the sake of comedy, sure, but the story is entertaining, the various incredible situations they fall into, interesting and funny.

I occassionally enjoy some of these types of movies, Scary Movie, Not Another Teen Movie, but it's a very short list. I like parodies more than anything.
