I think there should be a Passion of the Christ sub-forum..
..to discuss not just the upcoming film, the controversy, etc. but to discuss the iconology related to the time period and iconography that is sure to be laden throughout Gibsons movie, which may help with a better understanding of it. Just putting the thought out there.

Basically, you are asking for a sub-forum to discuss possible symbolic aspects of this film? Why not just say that because Movie Talk will be cluttered with threads about the Passion in the next month or two that having a sub-forum might help with that clutter?

Nah. A "one and only" thread, I can see that.
Controversial it may be, but there wasn't a subforum for Capturing The Friedmans... as for iconography, I'm sure that if anyone wants to understand Jesus' time further, there's a wealth of info on the net.

I will phrase my posts any way I want, without your input, thank you very much. If you don't like the way I write, then don't bother replying.

Besides, you'll probably just acuse me of not being a "real" Jesus fan.

A sub forum? Interesting idea, but if anything most of the conversation regarding the controversy has been already discussed. I'm not sure the actual film will draw enough talk to warrant an entire sub forum (not that the film isn't worth talking about, but truthfully I just don't think they'll be enough for a sub forum...this isn't a new story). Really, a mega thread will be more than enough to contain this film. It's story's importance is undeniable, but still...
We should probably just wait for the sequel, Jesus Christ: Reloaded to open a separate sub forum.

There must be one hell of an advertising budget for this movie. This weekend while watching the NASCAR Bud Shootout the #18 car of Bobby LaBonte's hood was adorned with a Passion of the Christ logo. That's almost 1/2 a million bucks for the hood (based on a 12-15 million a year for primary sponsorship for a Nextel Cup car). It wil also run in the big race. Since I'll be there I'll hopefully snag a pic of it when we are in the pits before the race Sunday.
"CELLULOID SPONSOR: Bobby Labonte's No. 18 Chevrolet will carry a paint scheme for the Daytona 500 promoting "The Passion of the Christ," a movie that follows the last 12 hours of Jesus Christ's life. The film, which was directed by Mel Gibson and opens on Feb. 25, has been criticized by Jewish groups.
Actor Jim Caviezel, who plays the leading role, will be in Labonte's pits for the Feb. 15 race"
