I'm not questioning it. He's been over looked for some years now. Though I hope that Murray will take it this year.

Though I will give him credit, he did a great acting job on pirates. kept me entertained and really acted as his usual finest. His role in it was the main reason why I enjoyed it so much and had to eat crow on all my trash talking I did on the film when it was still in production.

Seriously, you don't really feel that way about "M&C"....do you?

Amazed at the extremely large overlooking of "Big Fish." Would have expected at least one actor and adaptation nom.
Most happy about "A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow" from A Mighty Wind. Besides the fact that I truly love the song....besides the fact that it would kill to see Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara perform it live at the Oscars...I'm just dying to see Lana Lang and David St. Hubbins claim an Oscar.
Wouldn't they be the first married couple (outside of some shorts and documentary awards) to win a joint Oscar??
BTW, also cool to see the Coward Brothers nominated.

When I watched the noms this morning I was really suprised.
Keisha Castle-Hughes, City of God, and the like of those really small films get nods really felt good. I was so tired of seeing the predictable ones every year.
Although I am disappointed that Scarlett Johannson was not nominated.
to A Mighty Wind song nod.

very surprised about cold mountain. everything/one was naming this as the only competition for ROTK for the osacr and then it doesn't even make the cut?!?! very surprised!

I really was disappointed that Seabiscuit got the Best Picture nomination and 6 others. I thought it was one of the worst movies of 2003. Equally disappoint was that the girl from Whale Rider got best actress nomination. The acting was ok, but I thought there were others more deserving of the award.

Finding Nemo will likely win Best Animated Feature
Surprised me to see Depp with his best actor nod. Huge surprise actually. He sure was better in Fear and Loathing IMO. Still, the guy is the man, and it'll be rad to see him there.
ROTK is gonna clean house, with best picture and best director. Sucks, 'cause Coppola was a shoe-in for both if it wasn't for Peter Jackson and company.

I am actually happy Depp got nominated for Pirates. The Academy usually overlooks comedy so thankfully they finally removed the stick from up their butts. Granted, I would rather have him nominated/win for something else but what can you do.
Very disappointed that none of the actors from ROTK were nominated. Guess the sci-fi fantasy curse is still hanging in there. I had my fingers crossed that Astin would get a supporting actor nod but that wasn't meant to be either.
I'm with kevin75 on one point: no cinematography nod for ROTK? What's up with that?

Happy as can be for ROTK, not that it was surprising (except for a couple it didn't get).
My biggest disappointment: Peter Sarsgaard was not nominated for Best Supporting Actor in Shattered Glass. I'd also liked to have seen Sean Astin in there.

There must be something wrong with that list, as I saw it at my local art-house theater (South Coast Village) in December of 2002.
