(Bottomline: Best moment/scene in a movie according to you!)

Considering we all have varied tastes and genre spanning likes and dislikes i was curious to see if peeps have one certain moment in a movie that they could watch over and over and over and still get that feeling like they did when they saw it the 1st or 2nd time.

They don't have to be from the greatest movies of all time or they can be, or the best known or they can be, but simply those moments that sends a welcomed chill through and through or a jolt of inspire or just simply something that looked so good in a movie, something so original and inspired it just stood out as a great cinematic moment in the history according to You!

One for me...since I just saw it, but over and over it is just such a good scene, one that yes has been duplicated many times since, but not quite the same before and though now may seem to have an air of cheese to it..it still holds up as a great scene that I could watch over and over..great combo of atmosphere, emotion and music...

"An Officer and A Gentleman"...the very end when 'Up Where We Belong' plays and Gere struts in to carry Winger away..good stuff!

mine are cliche, but i love them anyways:

1. "You can't Handle the truth!..." (entire speech)
-- Colonel Nathan Jessup/Jack Nicholson; A Few Good Men

2. "FREEDOOOMMMM!!!" (rallying speeches, disembowelment, pick a scene)
-- William Wallace/Mel Gibson; Braveheart

3. scene where the Marquis, stripped of his luxuries, has bled his fingers to write a story on his clothes. he shows Madeline, then escapes his room and dances on the table in the dining hall.

4. for sheer creativity and originality: the entirety of:
-- Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas

The final scene in Gone With The Wind... after seeing that, I let out a great big 'omg its finally over' sigh of relief. Haven't had a desire to watch it since.

But all kidding aside...

Shindler's List: Oskar Shindler (Lian Neeson) falling apart as he cries while trying to figure out how many more people he could have saved. Pure magic.

4. Everytime Cop 663 (Tony Leung) talks to the inanimate objects in his apartment like his teddy bear, towel, and bar soap and Faye Wong's subsequent rearranging of his apartment to California Dreamin'. Both of these moments sum up the beautiful unabashed joy prevalent throughout the second half of the movie.

1. Empire Strikes Back Vader reveals his relationship to Luke. cliched but still a great moment in movie history.
2. Jaws - Shark pops out of the water and Brody backs away and says "We're gonna need a bigger boat."
3. Legend of Drunken Master - fight where Chan's character takes on the guys who steal his mother's purse and reveals real drunken boxing. - The fight choreography just gets my heart pumping every time.

When George McFly knocked out Biff with one punch. That was awesome.

Not directly related to this post, but I always thought that Tobey Maguire was a poor Peter Parker because not one of his scenes had the triumph of spirit that could match Crispin Glover's in BTTF, as well as the audience's lack of an emotional connection to the protagonist, which Crispin Glover did have.

Blade Runner...like, the whole damn thing. I just can soak up those visuals all day long. Especially the ending, Rutger pulling up Ford, and the haunting speech he gives soaked in rain. Beautiful movie.

Second...the helicopter attack in Apocalypse Now. Amazing sequence, simply spectacular attack sequence and an incredible film. I can't watch the movie over and over and over (it's just a really heavy film) but damn, I love just putting that scene on here and there.

I get chills during the night baseball sequence at the end of Traffic w/ Brian Eno's "Ascent (an Ending)" track playing over it.

Umberto D., Umberto's reunion with Flag.

I'm basing this on 'moments', rather than 'scenes'...

Slim riding the bomb down in Dr. Strangelove.

Seeing "Rosebud" in Citizen Kane.

"You have my axe", etc in Fellowship of the Ring

The helicopter pulling up to the skyscraper window in The Matrix.

For what you people would consider a 'guilty pleasure'... In MI:2 when Ethan is running out of the underground tunnel, the tenor chorus cuts out, and the rock-MI theme kicks in.

In Platoon, when Tom Berenger is over Charlie Sheen, and the napalm (or bombs...whatever) is dropped.

"The Sixth Sense", when the ring falls on the ground.

When Popeye runs off the screen at the very end of The French Connection.

when the last magnetic lock goes down and the vault opens to Beethoven's 'Ode To Joy' in Die Hard.

For years i didn't know what that tune was and i searched and searched and finally found..

When Arnold breaks out the shotty, hiden in the box of roses. All in slow-mo. That rules. Terminator 2 btw.

In Braveheart when the horses are running towards the scottish who are hiding the long spears. And it cuts between both of them, back and forth and the music cuts with it. It rules.

In matrix reloaded, what Morpheus slices the tire with a samurai sword and the truck rolls and he blows it up with the [Full-auto Glock?]

In Endless summer 2, surfing at Thunder reef I think it is, the music is awsome. And some of the best surfing cinematography I've ever seem.

In true lies when Jamie lee curtis has a gun to her head, and the bad guy says to arnold, put the gun down, and then he drops in and spins, pulls out his pistol and hits the guy in the head, it happens to fast.

In Crouching tiger hidden Dragon, the whole fight between Michelle Yeoh and Xaing Xe yee (sp?).

Yup, that was probably the most kickass moment in TMR. And yes I checked the extras and it is a full-auto glock.

In no particular order:

Jurassic Park - Brachiosaurus intro. Just that wide shot when it bellows and the theme kicks in...Goosebumps 'til this day. I think that's the perfect moment of the movie cuz Grant said the exact same thing everyone else who probably saw it for the first time was thinking -- "It's....it's a dinosaur"

Darth Maul ignites the second lightsaber blade of his weapon. From the teaser to this day. THAT is a Star Wars moment.

The Sail Barge assault in Jedi - Luke falling on the plank, grabing the end, fiipping over then the Rebel Theme kicks in.

"They have a cave troll" - I don't think I need to elaborate on this now do I?

I'm surprised no one mentioned fight club yet. Oh wait here it comes...

The drug dealer scene in Boogie Nights. Possibly the greatest scene in the history of cinema.

The scene in Return of the King when Pippen is singing, and Faramir rides off to certain death. I'm a big fan of the entire trilogy, but that scene (and the 'my Brother, my Captain, my King' from FOTR) stands out as something really special.

Someone earlier mentioned Crouching Tiger, but I feel the best scene was the end, where the two lovers silently share a lifetime of feelings in a moment.

From the moment where Tim the Enchanter first comes onto the screen, all the way until the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. That entire stretch never fails to reduce me to tears from laughter.

"I want my father back you son-of-a-bitch" from The Princess Bride.

I was looking forward to posting in this thread, but sheesh, I have no idea where to start! But I'll try. ;)

In addition to just about every moment listed already:

1. The end of Stand by Me, when the Writer is typing "I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?"

2. Winona Ryder dancing in the snow in slo-mo in Edward Scissorhands with Danny Elfman's magical score kicking in.

3. Most of Moulin Rouge, but especially El Tango de Roxanne and the final reunion of Satine and Christian (and her fate).

4. Another mention for the Sixth Sense "realization" scene. Goosebumps EVERY time I watch the movie at that point.

5. When Alice Munroe throws herself off the cliff in Last of the Mohicans.

I'm sure I'm leaving, you know, about 300 great moments out!
