Lost in Translation see it in theaters or wait for dvd?
I noticed that it is playing in my area for about 2 weeks. I was wondering if its worth spending about 20 bucks to see the movie in theaters (8.50 for a ticket, and about 10 bucks for food), or just wait and rent the dvd.

Just don't spend $10 on food
This is my #1 pick for the year, but I don't think it's the kind of film where it's effect will be deminished if you watch it on the small screen.
When does the DVD come out?

$10 for food? Why would you ever pay that much for movie theater snacks?
I loved the movie and it's one of my favorites of all time, but at this point since it is coming out Feb. 3, you could probably just wait for the DVD and it wouldn't make much difference.

Watch in theaters, this will give you a valid reason to bash it on the forum as I do not think it's your type of movie... prove me wrong.

If the theater is good, I say go and smuggle in some snacks. I really enjoyed seeing it in the theater with a big screen and good sound because the movie was just so intrinsically beautiful.

C'mon. support good films and see it in the theater. Don't blow your money on Torque. Make Holywood make more films like LIT and less like Charlie's Angels 2.

One reason I say theater is because, although you are not going for the audiance reaction like if you were watching a comedy, the big view of japan on the big screen really adds something that just makes you go "wow"

I wouldn't call it a comedy, although it has some very funny moments. I consider it a romance, admittedly with an askew point of view to it.

It's playing at the campus theater here for $2 for a few days before the DVD release. I didn't have a chance to check it out during its initial run -- think I'll check it out, since I love practically everything Bill Murray does.

My favorite film of 2003 and probably in my top 20 of all-time.
