I miss that
Eddie is a daddy now and he wants to impress his kids. He has become the butt of his own jokes about Bill Cosby.

EM realized that he could make a killing making kid's movies after the Absent Minded Professor. I saw flashes of the old Eddie in Bowfinger (which is a very underrated and unjustly forgotten movie, IMO), but most of his stuff for the past decade just blows.

Having said that, Delirious is still my favorite stand-up routine. Why isn't it out on DVD?

Eddie's drunk dad freaking out on Gus is the funnniest damn thng I've ever seen.

Imagine a movie based on the Eddie's drunk dad character?

I don't necessarily begrudge the guy for falling into family fare, because everything after Boomerang seemed to be pure crap. I think his choice to play up Afrocentrcity combined with his apparent vanity that he was SO good looking just caused the guy to stop being funny. I watched Daddy Day Care while babysitting my niece, and he's just painful, and it was very reminscent of The Distinguished Gentleman in his hamming and mugging at times. Of course he's always been a ham and mugged, but at least he had us laughing through those moments. It's so insane how so many of these guys from the 80's fell on such hard times. And I know he's not living in the gutter, but compare where people like Eddie, Michael Jackson, Lawrence Taylor, Dwight Gooden, Mike Tyson, Daryl Strawberry were then and are now.

Hey NYSoprano, why don't you take Eddie, The F#(*^$ Kids, Aunt Bunny and all pile into the Gooney Goo Goo Machine and get the F#(* out of here, and if the b!%$^ don't like it she can get the F#(* out too!!

To say that Eddie's film choices have worsened over the years is a huge understatement. How he went from 48 Hours and Coming to America to I Spy and Daddy Day Care is beyond my comprehension.

Love BOWFINGER...

...As far as other EM comedies go of late, you couldnt pay me to go see one of them. Last one I saw was Nutty Professor 2, and that ended another long Murphy drought for me, wish I hadnt seen it in the first place, but my girlfriend at the time wanted to see it.

Goony goo goo ga joob. Wouldn't Eddie be perfect as John Lennon in a New Beatles movie? Only get this, they're all black! Oh wait, they did that in "The Wiz"....

Please . . . the only Beatle that Eddie could EVER play is the 5th Beatle, Clarence. Even the thought of casting Eddie as John is insulting after John suggested that the group "get rid of Clarence and steal all his good ideas".
