Thumbs up to Peter Jackson

I'm so impressed with Peter Jackson, not only did he make great films, but he also let us know about the future 4 disk dvd releases. I hope more directors take a page out of his book.

Groucho 12-30-03 01:09 PM

I heard he was compensated financially for doing the commentaries on the DVDs. Greedy jerk.

PixyJunket 12-30-03 01:09 PM

Peter Jackson personally told us about future DVDs?

Strange.. I always thought New Line had done that..

Fok 12-30-03 03:17 PM

Well I'm sure he might have had something to do with it. Either way, I'm happy.
Is it common for New Line to announce re-releases?

Jackskeleton 12-30-03 04:02 PM

It's common for most studios to give you a heads up on upcoming special editions. Look at Black Hawk down. this isn't anything new, people just choose to ignore those advance warnings and then complain after about the double dipping.

It is fairly common, but not something that always happens. Take X-men 1.5, the rumored upcoming new Spiderman disc, etc. etc. There's been plenty of re-releases that haven't been announced before hand.

So I'm very thankful for the LOTR releases and others that were announced ahead of time.

I don't bitch as much as most though, if it's not annouced ahead of time, the studio can shove the re-release. They already got my money once, and as long as the original release is anamorphic OAR and in DD 5.1 or DTS I personally see no reason to upgrade.

You only "heard" that he did? I think he's done enough in the terms of extras, which he did FOR THE FANS, that he doesn't deserve to be called a greedy jerk. Even if he did receive compensation, does it really matter?

QuiGonJosh 01-03-04 07:22 AM

Thank You Peter Jackson...thats the one thing that came to mind after watching ROTK...

FYI, Groucho = 99% sarcasm

Sorry, just a case of temporary insanity.

STOP padding your post count!!!!

jough 01-13-04 02:25 PM

Yeah, man. Stop padding it.

jough 01-13-04 02:25 PM

I mean, who the hell are these people who contribute nothing to the discussion multiple times just to pad their post count.

I mean, really!

There you go again! Why are you accusing me of doing this? Honestly, you're not being fair with these accusations. I'm not replying to your posts just to peeve you or others by using this as an excuse to pad. I just want the admins and others to know that I'm not "padding my post count".

jough 01-13-04 06:47 PM

So why post again just to claim that you're not inflating your posting?

I don't get it.

Anyway, post count doesn't matter much. You have those people who have 30 posts a day and just badger other people and post asinine quips, and then there are those who post really thoughtful things every few months.

Too bad they don't have member ratings activated here. Then we could vote people off the island a la Survivor.

I posted again just to claim that I'm not inflating my posting to defend myself from those accusations. To keep quiet while I'm being falsely accused would be to admitting and/or complying to those accusations.

And thank you for understanding that my post count doesn't matter much since its so very low and my rate for each day is also very low.

And I hope you finally get it.

That's not true at all. Keeping quiet is a way of not acknowledging accusations. It in no way means you admit to the accusations. The only way to admit to an accusation is to make a new post saying that you really did post those things to pad your count.

In fact, it would have been better had you stayed silent, because your defense is untenable. When you come into a forum and find the last post for almost every thread on the first page is by the same person, and then see that some of the posts are pointless, off topic, inane, or all of those things, it's hard to say you're not just padding your count.
