Alan Bates, dead at 69.

Recently he was in Gosford Park and a very icy villain in The Sum Of All Fears, to say nothing of his long career on stage and screen.

RIP

Very sad. Another fine British actor passes on. He can now join Oliver Reed, his "Women in Love" nude wrestling partner, for a rematch in the ever-after.

Yes,he was a great one and will be missed. Check out King of Hearts if you've never seen it.

An actor who never disappointed, even if the play or movie was less than great. Sad to think it's over...

Great film. Some others people may not have seen: The Fixer (Academy Award nomination for Best Actor) and Georgy Girl.
