The Ladykillers (2004) Trailer.. Coen Bros remake.

Hi-res

Full Screen

Never saw the original but it looks oddly funny. Nice to see Tom Hanks back in a comedy, though seeing him with Marlon Wayans is about the last thing I'd have thought up heh.

I'll refrain from posting "That looks awesome" at fear of sounding redundant. So many cool looking movies are coming out this Spring.

Looks hilarious, but I almost fell off my chair when I saw that the Coens have a shared director credit on this one. What the hell? Everybody knows it's "Ethan produces, Joel directs." Dammit!

"We must have waffles. We must all have waffles forthwith!"

Overall the movie seems kind of so-so to me, but I bet this'll be worth seeing for Hanks' performance alone.

Awesome - eagerly anticipating this. Couldn't think of better filmmakers to remake this classic.

Well, I'm really mixed on this one.

On one hand, I like everybody involved. There's a lot of talent behind this project.

On the other hand, they are remaking one of my all-time favorite films. I wish directors would stick to remaking mediocre fare, like Ocean's 11.

Also, how many films in the last few years have featured a "gag" in the trailer where an older black lady slaps around a younger black guy?

Sorry guys, but this doesn't look like my cup of tea. It looks like Hanks hot streak may come to an end with this one...I didn't laugh once during the trailer.

This one and at least one other. I'm trying to remember the other one...some generic Martin Lawrence comedy maybe?

Nothing to Lose. I think it's been forgotten by most, but it's still around. Next to Bad Boys, it's my favorite Martin Lawrence movie.

I'm sure the Coens will please, as always.

I wonder if the Coens had a falling out with Steve Buscemi. He hasn't been in their last four movies.

And they both share producer credit on this too... basically, they both produce and direct everything they do, but now the credits finally reflect this, instead of the usual credit split. I think this looks fantastic and can not wait to see it.

It's going to be hard to top the original, and after seeing the trailer - my doubts are even higher.

But, I'm willing to give the Coen's the benefit of the doubt, and I'll be seeing this when it comes out.

A few quick thoughts after viewing this preview:

Alec Guinness is rolling in his grave.

Is Tom Hanks doing a really BAD Colonel Sanders impression?

Is this REALLY a Coen brothers film?

Why???

I thought it looked alright. I will always give the benefit of the doubt to Tom Hanks and the Coen brothers, so I'm interested.

I saw this trailer before Big Fish.

I'm sure I'll like it just as much as I like hte Coen Brothers other films.

The Coen Brothers' "Intolerable Cruelty" was a big disappointment. Now "The Ladykillers" looks like it could be vintage Coen Bros., or it looks like it could be flat out terrible. Hopefully not, but if it's the latter then the Coen's would find themselves in the position of trotting out two turkeys in a row in a very short period of time. I hope they are not being seduced by the cashing-in of overtly commercial filmmaking. "Intolerable" and now "Lady Killers" both have a much more accessible vibe to them than their past masterpieces (especially "Fargo" and "Barton Fink"). I hope this is not the beginning of the end of the creative artistry of the Coen Brothers. I think they are one of the more important filmmaking teams in recent times.

I thought "Intolerable Cruelty" was only a middling Coen Bros. film. I'm hoping that this one will be great.

I never saw the original and probably won't until I see this one first.
