Star Wars & ROTK? SPOILERS

Anyone else notice the correlation in the two films?

Return of the Jedi?
Return of the King?

During the final battle...
in Jedi we had the AT-AT's (or whatever they're called) against the little creature thingys

in ROTK the big elephants against the very small in comparison humans...

*Nerd alert*
Actually those from Jedi are AT-STs (All-Terrain Scout Troopers)
The AT-AT's are from Empire (although there was ONE in Jedi.)
I too, thought of Luke in Empire disposing the AT-AT by himself when Leggy took down the Oliphaunt.

Then there was Darth Orc in Minas Tirith.

Don't forget, the crowning of the King was very similar to the awards ceremony at the end of Star Wars.

When GL first wrote SW he borrowed a lot from LOTR and other mythology. He even consulted with Joseph Campbell. LOTR is also based on northern european mythology.

Please repeat the following phrases after me.

"Mythological pool."

"Collective Subconscious."

"Separate franchises."

Thanks.

Shmi (in TPM): "What does your heart tell you?"

Aragorn (in ROTK): "What does your heart tell you?"

Eowyn (in ROTK): "I've got to save you." (paraphrased)

Theoden (in ROTK): "You already have." (paraphrased)

Luke (in ROTJ): "I've got to save you."

Anakin (in ROTJ): "You already have, Luke."

It seems more than a coincidence that both of these scenes have a similar effect in both films. Possibly an homage to Lucas who showed Jackson how to previsualize SFX scenes.

Gandalf's friend and ally who owed him a life debt in Fellowship was Gwahir Windlord, the noble king of the giant eagles........Qui Gon had Jar Jar. Interesting.

Also don't forget the scene in King where Frodo tells Sam he doesn't like sand because its rough and it gets everywhere.

Definitely. I was expecting Legolas to pull out his lightsaber and slash at the beast's belly.

Oh, yeah, and when Eowyn realizes she's Aragorn's sister...
