J K Simmons nailed JJ Jameson perfectly.

The music in the last third of the trailer is so eloquent. Absolutely sets the mood.

I would like to see Scorpion, Shocker, and Rhino in the movie too even for just a brief cameo.

I agree about the Batman sequels being stinkers but X-men did it. They show that it can be done.

I think it worked with X-Men because it was Group vs. Group. The thing that I think that made Batman do so poorly with the multiple villains is that they were all relating to a single hero and that made it hard to show and build the relationships (not enough time). In X-Men, the relationships (good vs. evil) were more group focused than individuals, which allowed them to have to build the relationships between the groups by showing glimpses of relationships between all of the individuals without having to go too in depth into any one.

Since our Spidey Boy is a single hero . . . putting in too many villains runs the risk of going the "Batman" route . . . and that would be bad . . .

Eh. Looks decent. The first portion of the trailer made me sick but after that it was pretty nice.

i think it looks great! can't wait to see it on the bigscreen. :) just showed my boys, and their comment was, "where's Venom?" lol :p

lets call a spade a spade. Batman sequels failed for one reason, they got to out of control. second brought in two villians.. well one and a half really. third brought in 2 full villains. fourth brought in three. they were just adding up and the villains and making them out shine the hero. Batman might have had a lot of strange baddies, but they still had some normal two bit thugs. it's a detective story, this is why the fifth one sounds like it will succeed. they aren't trying to make the villian outshine batman, but bring a challange. Not to mention that each next film was to comic book like in a bad way. compare the first to the fourth.. what a major difference along the lines of set design and feeling it brings.

They were overstylish and poorly written. I agree with the "out of control" bit, but for different reasons.

Number of villains doesn't have anything to do with it. Neither does the villain's size. Nicholson outshone Keaton by far with the first film; the film was still great.

If the film is well-writeen, well-acted and well-directed, like the first one, it will succeed. I'd go along with neon lights and greek statues everywhere... if there was a bloody point to it all.

:lol: @ people suggesting Nicholson play Doc Ock. He can bare make it to the concession stands at Laker games these days let alone prance around in a villian suit.

the whole feel of the film also effects it. Batman's 3 and 4 were just too... hmmm how to put it.. over the top. the batsuit for one thing, I suppose I should have rephrased the comment about number of villains. They had to many people in general. You had Bane (which with his story arc in the whole batman universe could have done a film in it self) then you add ivy and mr. freeze which might have worked if they didn't just go a little crazy with them. To top it off you had the side story of alfred to bring in batgirl which was annoying in itself and then the whole nipple batsuits which threw everyone for a loop. It was just to cluttered, much like most of my post. too much going on and too little time for one to let it all sink in and accept it.

the comic book look was a bit much as well. there is only so much you can do before you lose the audiance's already pushed acceptance.

Only thing I know is....Doc Ock needs to put on a shirt! Talk about man-breasts ;)

Ah, see, but that was the point that I was making is that with only the Joker to deal with as an enemy, they were able to really build and develop and define that adversarial relationship. It gave the time and effort needed in order for Nicholson to be able to outshine Keaton. Throw in one or two more villans for him to split screen and story time with and he never would have been able to pull it off in the same way . . .

this is going OT, but am i the only one that thought Batman Forever, malianged as it is, is really the only one of the films to show Batman as a true detective- piecing together clues and making onscreen deductions?
its the only film where i get the impression the guy actually expends brain cells and doesn't just strap on a suit and push a bunch of buttons.
any detective work in the first film takes place off camera (he basically hands Vale a folder of all the conclusions hes reached).

BF is a very flawed film, but the whole thing is much closer to 'comic book' batman than either of the Burton films (yes, somehow a city that has neon lights is cheesy, yet the penguin running for mayor, penguins with missles on their backs, 'scratching' a cd, and a bat ski boat that is utilized and thrown away in basically the same way as the batplane in the previous film are all the height of a one of a kind genius?)

Though the burton films had those cheesiness they had one thing that I enjoyed out of all the batman films, the Gotham look and feel. though I do agree with you that BF did have the whole detective work in it with the riddles. I enjoyed that (and kidman ;) ) but the rest was bugging me about that one.

either way, I don't think spidey is going down that same road.. either that or it's two early to tell.

Shame Batman Forever sucked though...cause it did have the Dect. thing goin...

i'm still iffy about it.
i could do without the generic villian one-liner ("Fasten your seatbelts"), and i find the 'spider-voguing' a little distracting (this is where he freezes mid-air in a typical Romita or McFarlane pose for a couple of beats).

nothing much is made of the plot in the teaser and if there isn't a compelling story for the sequel, all the misc mayhem isn't going to amount to much, no matter how cool it looks.

i think i'm going to be going into this one with low expectations.
maybe i'll be pleasantly surprised.

:up: tell it like it IS! (I just agree, 's'all.) Burton lost me after Pee Wee's Big Adventure and had a few good ones after (Ed Wood, NightmareBC and Mars Attacks...but that's just my taste.)
Still, I rather sit through Planet of the Apes again before another Burton batman. Probably because I wasn't a Planet of the Apes fan before timmy got his hands on it.

Can't wait to see this trailer. The Doc Ock teaser poster has been my desktop at work for weeks.

Parker is tempted to give in to his desires over staying out of M.J.'s life. Realizes what he's missing out on (the scene with her and the military chap). He will end up with her in this one it looks like.
Osborne is used as a pawn by Octavius, maybe even learning Parker's secret and maybe his Dad's.
Doc Ock can walk upright, on walls and has permanently affixed goggle things. Kudos to the crew for being faithful to the character.
They hardly showed anything, but they showed a lot.
