supposed to be quite strong stuff

Great film.

After this film and Show Me Love (aka *****ing Amal) - I'm becoming a fan of Lukas Moodysson.

It's a strong, mature film - but nothing too disturbing and definitely not gratuitous.

Anxiously awaiting a DVD release.

It's....not bad.

Misery of children a la Bresson's "Mouchette". But parts of it were very cheezy - like the end on the rooftop. And lots of Rammstein. Overall it is effective, but IMO Moodysson is trying a bit too hard.

I could have done without the angel stuff, but it was a strong drama with some heartbreaking scenes. I saw this during a film festival which also showed Irreversible and actually found it tougher going because of the emotional and tragic situations it's main character was going through. Really great performances too.

Yeah, definitely a "tough" film b/c the girl is so easy to fall in love with.

That said, while I thought it was mostly very well done, and definitely worth seeing, I didn't enjoy it as much as his first feature.

Since I don't consider "Kill Bill: Volume 1" or "Dogville" entirely eligible, this is my "official" pick for the year's best film. And I must disagree with those bashing the final scene on the rooftop. I thought it was completely effective, and not overly manipulative.
