Animation:
Ice age lacks the visual beauty of Pixar films. Pixar's animators are very detail oriented which makes the story more believable. Ice Age = a rock here, a tree there, another rock. Not stunning at all.

Story:
Pretty much Land before time material. I loved the casting. I thought the voice actors chosen for their respective roles were perfect but there just weren't many jokes for anyone over the age of 5.

Finding Nemo was not for the children, it's for adults w/ issues and dark humor. The parents must've dragged their kids to see it multiple times to get the enormous box office. I mean, seriously, your mom gets brutally murdered and eaten by a freaking barracouta, along w/ hundreds of your siblings before you even hatched? And to top that off, you're a crippled clown fish who gets kidnapped by some giant alien while you're on a freaking field trip. Right, real funny. I bet all the kids who watched this movie wanted to be a crippled, who gets taken by some child molester while they're sleeping at night.
Yeah, I suppose the "Family gets attacked by wolves, mom saves baby by jumping into icy river then dying RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE BABY" is much lighter fare. -rolleyes-

I guess this thread has turned into a "Ice Age" fanboy page as most folks I know who have seen it thought it was no great shakes while every other person posting here loved it. I have to agree with cruzness - it has zero replayability for me. Glad I caught it on my TiVo suggests instead of buying it.

I personally loved Ice Age. I put it up there with Monster's Inc. and Finding Nemo, maybe even on the same level of Toy Story. I can't say that I've watched it more than Toy Story, and itt's one of my favorite dvds to watch with my daughter. Everytime I watch I find myself cracking up laughing.

1. Toy Story/Ice Age
2. Monsters Inc.
3. Finding Nemo

But there is no accounting for taste, I can't imagine anyone disliking it.

My CGI animation faves:

1) Shrek
2) Finding Nemo
3) Ice Age
4) Toy Story 2
5) Toy Story
6) A Bug's Life
7) Monsters Inc
8) Antz

Pixar - Keeper
Fox Animation/Dreamworks - Renter

Here's how I rank them:

1) Toy Story
2) Toy Story 2
3) A Bug's Life
...then a gap then
4) Monsters Inc
5) Finding Nemo
...another gap
6) Shrek
7) Antz
...another gap
8) Ice Age

So I guess I prefer Pixar to non-Pixar :)

I thought Ice Age looked pretty good, but overall didn't hold my interest.

I rank Ice Age very high, second only to Toy Story.

I thought Ice Age was the least impressive of the Dreamworks animated movies. As for Antz, I am surprised most have listed it lower than Bug's Life. I much prefer Antz over Bug's Life. I guess I just felt it's more of an adult movie.

ICE AGE is not a Dreamworks film, it's a Blue Sky Studios film that was distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Such a one dimensional definition of what "adult" means. I feel sorry for you.
