LotR Full Version?

Anyone think, possibly a few years from now, they'll put together a multidisc set of the entire Lord of the Rings? Not the 3 movies, but all edited together like one big movie, kinda the way you can get the whole huge book or the 3 smaller ones? If so, would you buy it, or skip it?

Play the three together, and it IS one big movie.

Peter Jackson mentioned the idea of re-editing them to put the story in exact chronological order (such as putting all the Arwin/Aragorn stuff together earlier in the film). Sorta like they did with Godfather. I hope this doesn't happen, as I really like it the way it is.

However, it would be awesome to see them all edited together, cutting out the credits and titles, and watching it as one big sweeping epic.

Editing it together without the credits in between movies would be cool, but I don't think it would work to well if you put the scenes in exact chronological order. It sure looks like some of the scenes were designed to have flashbacks, and I think it would be wierd to not have them.

Exactly - one needs a break anyhow.

Given the capacity of current DVDs, you *have* to have breaks. So I'm not sure what the point would be.

The 3 movies as stand-alones are fine by me.

I love them the way they are, but I would definitely check it out.

how many of the yes votes would be buying to simply have a more "complete" LOTR collection, but feel that the current formats are perfectly acceptable for future viewings? :)

i voted no, but that's because i'm quite happy with the TE's and the EE's as they are. not to mention that the replicas are quite nice little displays. i'd not fork over another huge chunk of change to get just another copy of a version i already own, even with a pretty new box to put them in.
