i have a question regarding a movies run time

say a movie is listed at imdb at 99 minutes, are they including the credits in this? with a rumored 3 and a half hours of rotk, would the movie really be 3 hours and 20 minutes because the credits are around 10 min to make it 3 and a half hours or is the 3 and a half hours the full movie and with the credits, its closer to 3 hours and 40 min

The credits are always included in a film's run time.

Some of them do, some don't.

The LOTR movies seem to list the running time WITH credits.

On the theatrical FOTR, the running time listed is 178 min. But the movie only lasta for 170 min. The credits are the remainder.

Return of The King is 3 hours and 12 minutes of movie plus 8 minutes of credits for 3 hours 20 minutes total.

I don't think I've ever seen a running time that did not include the credits.

While we are on the subject why do running times never agree with each other. The theatre will say one thing, IMDB will say another and the actual run time will be different. Which one is reliable?

The extended versions of the LOTR movies don't include the fan club credits in their runtime. The fan club credits run nearly half an hour (it's a biiiig fan club).
