lol, I was just going to suggest the same thing. Just because Pinhead and Jason have gone to space, doesn't mean that Mike needs to!

Halloween is my favorite slasher franchise, please don't send it to space!

DRG 10-03-05 12:25 PM

Pretty sad, actually. The Jason and Freddy movies have always been more gimmicky, so it doesn't bother me when they do crazy stuff like this. But the Myers franchise has generally stayed more "down to Earth" (pun somewhat intended), even if some of them were terrible. But I suppose once Dimension got their mitts on the franchise all bets were off.

Really, if they're going to make another Halloween movie I'd rather they just reboot the franchise and start over from scratch, a la Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Don't forget that Leprachaun and Killer clowns have already been to space too. :)

Actually the Killer Klowns are from outer space, so that's kinda the opposite. ;)

dadaluholla 10-03-05 12:32 PM

How about Evil Dead in Space? I wouldn't mind seeing Bruce Campbell as an ASH-TRONAUT.

UAIOE 10-03-05 12:34 PM

Pehaps we could just put Mike, Jason, Freddy, Pinhead, & the Leprachaun in a spaceship and have a weekly show of thier wacky adventures around space!

Hilarity ensues when they reach the Roman planet!

Bad news, just bad news. I know that the some of the Halloween sequels haven't really been up to par (part 4 and part 7 were pretty damn good), but somewhere inside me, I don't want to see this get the "in space" treatment. Jason X was alright for what it was, but I don't see Halloween that way yet. After Manhattan and Hell I guess the only place for Jason to go was space, but Michael still has a few stops to make before he gets there (although, after that ridiculous crane kick that Busta dropped on him, it might be hard for me to make my case.)

OldBoy 10-03-05 12:37 PM

"Jason X" is shown on SciFi a lot and while it isn't a good movie by any stretch of the imagination, i think because it is so bad it makes me keep watching it. especially certain great scenes like when Jason smashes the girl's frozen face...classic and fun to keep watching!

scott shelton 10-03-05 01:33 PM

I loathed JASON X, but if the producers went bonkers with a moon idea for the film, It could be loads of fun.

raven56706 10-03-05 01:38 PM

It was just announced Halloween 7- The Curse of Bad Ideas

Legolas 10-03-05 01:46 PM

Since the same studio owns both Halloween and Hellraiser, isn't it only a matter of time before they make Michael Myers vs. Pinhead?

As for the "Jason space fiasco", when has there ever been a good Friday the 13th movie anyway?

Clive Barker recently mentioned that this idea fell apart when the producer of HALLOWEEN felt that Pinhead wasn't good enough to star alongside Myers.

Mind you, this was the same man who thought Busta Rhymes was a good enough actor for the last film...

madara 10-04-05 03:19 PM

Bah, can't they just go back to basics, respect the original material and add little creative spin to keep it fresh. Maybe something we always assumed about Halloween 1 is not as it appears. Layer on the mystery and the "what ifs" and at very least reward original viewers instead of Michael Myers goes to Moon.

hehe

riley_dude 10-04-05 05:09 PM

Why do they keep making these?
Why do people still pay money to see these?

DVDHO 10-04-05 08:21 PM

How would he get there?Man leave space alone.

As far as I'm concerned, that's up for "funniest quote of the year" here at DVDTalk.

Halloween outside of the immortal classic film, has had only one good sequel, Halloween II. "9 in space" is a last ditch effort to get a sequel out. The series has always been the weaker of the big 3 (F13, Nightmare, Hall.). This is one series that I pretend never existed and has nothing really left to offer.

All of this is coming from a guy who really wants a new solo F13th and a prequel to Nightmare on Elm Street. Demension is absolutely the most horrendous company when coming to horror; they don't really grant interviews (like in Fangoria) so that makes it hard to promote, they kill franchises with the Direct-to-DVD death, and they don't care or want to give fans something special.

Imagine if LGF done this, we horror fans would really be in Hell.

Awwww...I really like part 4 a lot, and even if it's considered blasphemy, I prefer part 4 to the first sequel.

I have to agree with you on that. I guess i just hold a soft spot in my heart for 4 since it was the first one I ever saw, it was also the first Rrated film i snuck into(I was 12). I always thought it was more of a retelling than a continuation of the first film. Don't get me wrong, it is no where near as good as the first. I still enjoy it as a film.

I think Halloween is the best of the series and the one that has had the best sequels. 2, 4, and H20 are pretty good, imo.

madgame 10-05-05 01:26 PM
