I don't know how they made a 15 minute story work for 4 and a half hours, but they found a way.

Re: Ok, I'm already totally sick of The Cat in the Hat
Originally posted by Phil L. The commercials and product tie-ins are incredibly annoying. Today I was standing in line at the post office and had to look at stupid CitH posters all over the walls. Apparently there is some sort of cross promotion with the USPS. This is only gonna get worse isn't it? |
Originally posted by Pants The Grinch was one of the ugliest, noisiest, most unfunny, poor special effects, awful movies ever made. Why it made so much money I'll never understand. I wanted to run out of the theater! These movies squat over the memory of Dr. Suess' and take a big drippy diarrhea all over it. The people who make them should be punnished. I suggest you skip this one then. |
This film has the most irritating TV ads in quite some time.
|
While you may despise all of the ads about,
I fear they will remain all while the film is out. While you may wish for this movie bomb, It appeals to kids, and will keep them calm. If anything proves to be box-office juice, no one will care about the memory of dear Dr. Seus. |

Lets hope for "Hop on Pop" staring the crew of Jackass jumping on Phil.

If they know what's good for them, they will make a movie about Horton.
Horton rocks. I'll be happy if Jim Carrey, Brendan Fraser, and Mike Myers are not in the Horton movie. I think they should cast Steve Buschemi as Horton. |

If I see another add for this movie, I might throw up...or at least throw something into my television.
Not only does it look annoying, it's just creepy. And that's just not right. |
From IMDb:
Universal's upcoming The Cat in the Hat has produced so many marketing tie-ins that it is being regarded as "one of the largest business-backed films in Hollywood history," the Washington Post observed today (Thursday). The newspaper observed that 12 companies, promoting more than 40 brands, are official sponsors. Thirty other retailers are offering special Cat activities in their stores. And 75 companies are producing Cat in the Hat products. Mitch Litvak, president of marketing firm L.A. Office, told the Post that the movie has becoming "one of the most well-supported films in the promotional world. ... I would gamble it's the top." However, the newspaper observed, some children's advocates have expressed concern about the marketing efforts. It quoted Susan Linn, a Harvard psychologist and co-founder of Stop Commercial Exploitation of Children, as saying, "There's been such an escalation that now going to the movies is simply an opportunity for corporations to manipulate kids. It's going to get to where every minute of children's entertainment will be sponsored by somebody and you can no longer go to a movie that's just a movie." And why is the US Post Office spending OUR TAX DOLLARS to help Universal publicise their movie? |
Well, at least free tickets (have 3 kids) will soften the blow.

Originally posted by Charlie Goose The USPS doesn't receive any revenue from tax dollars. They get money from usage alone. http://charliegoose.homestead.com/files/goose.jpg Honk! But I really don't see why they need to be helping publicise a movie for Universal. |
yeah I have to agreed... i mean fast food places and post offices are one thing... but when they have an NBA basketball tie in to the CitH...good lord, is nothing sacred?!
