Blueberry is HERE (teaser)

The New Jan Kounen (Dobermann) film starring Vincent Cassel (Brotherhood of the Wolf), Michael Madsen, J.Lewis trailer:

beefjerky 11-18-03 12:18 PM

I'm looking forward to this one. I like the look of the movie from the teaser. I'm guessing that was Vincent Cassel speaking english during the trailer. I always thought he'd have an accent when speaking in english, but I guess not.

A part of me was hoping this movie would be a comedy because Eddie Izzard was in it.

Josh-da-man 11-18-03 12:26 PM

Don't suppose there's any kind of release date set for the US? Do they even have a distributor?

pro-bassoonist 11-18-03 01:07 PM

as far as I know there is no date for this release for the US. But the entire movie was shot in English so when the DVD comes out I will be picking it up for sure (same as Fanfan La Tulipe.....very much looking forward to this one).

As to Vincent's accent....well, he went to school in NY so his English is pretty good from what I gather (dont know what you would consider a strong accent).

Anyhow.....looking forward to this one!

Scorpio 11-18-03 11:35 PM

Looks pretty cool from that website.

Jepthah 11-19-03 01:03 AM

Cool. :D Art of Moebius becomes one of France's leading filmmaker's inspiration...could be something really nice.

cultshock 11-19-03 01:39 AM

I enjoyed the Moebius comic and am a fan of Vincent Cassel, so I'm really looking forward to seeing this film (and the teaser looks cool!). Lord knows when this will get US distribution, so I guess I'll just have to get the R2 DVD when its available.

ArchibaldTuttle 11-19-03 01:46 AM

I went from not knowing about this movie before this thread, to having it be one of my most anticipated movies, theres a lot of cool stuff on the webpage, it sucks we won't be able to see it for god only knows how many months, thanks for bringing it to my attention

Geofferson 11-19-03 05:12 PM

I always welcome Michael Madsen movies. :D

DVD Smurf 11-20-03 10:47 PM

I thoroughly liked the comicbook series Blueberry when I was younger, and I hope they give it the treatment it deserves (IMO). :)

pro-bassoonist 12-30-03 01:10 AM

The Europeans have released the poster and the full trailer for the film:

wow - this sounds exceptionally good!

Tuan Jim 02-01-04 10:43 PM

Still no US release date. Here's another trailer link for the heck of it. http://www.cinemovies.fr/fiche_multi...hp?IDfilm=2400

Definitely looking forward to this.

RocShemp 02-02-04 04:17 AM

Thank you pro-bassoonist for presenting me with my first must-see movie of the year. :D

That said, where can I get the comic book?

Oh and is Fanfan La Tulipe getting an R1 release?

RocShemp 02-06-04 10:09 PM

Next tuesday a friend is going to bring me some of the comics to hold me over while we figure out how the hell we're gonna get our handson the eventual R2 DVD release if this doesn't get a US theatrical release.

Drop 02-06-04 10:24 PM

Wow, that looks really excellent. I love westerns, and I'm a Micheal Madsen fan. Really anticipating this now.

Jackskeleton 02-06-04 11:54 PM

wait.. this has nothing to do with Willy Wonka?

Epic published a run -- don't know if it was ever completed. I'm pretty sure that the Mobius collections being released by someone right now (fantagraphics?) have the complete run though.

RocShemp 02-07-04 07:00 AM

Thanks for the heads up, Tuan Jim.

Tuan Jim 03-07-04 01:12 PM

Very mixed reviews apparently:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0276830/

http://www.bibloi.com/performingarts...blueberry.html

among others.

edit -- on the other hand, Bilal's new film is looking better and better (though less plotwise like the books IMO) -- http://www.immortel-lefilm.com/video...rtel_ba_hq.mov -- 35mb.

Supermallet 03-07-04 03:17 PM

Everytime I see this thread, the title makes me think of Blueberryhead, the Mr. Show parody of Carrot Top.

lol you're not alone.

Drop 04-23-04 11:20 AM

Anything new on this? Looks like it had some releases outside the US, and I hope it hits the theatres here, but even DVD news would be nice. Looks cool, even if the reviews have been mixed, I definitely am still anticipating it.

Sessa17 04-23-04 11:55 AM

I want to see this sooooo bad. I dig Madsen, but IMO Vincent Cassel is the most underrated actor alive.

RocShemp 08-29-04 11:28 PM

Well, I'm glad to see this is finally coming to the US (albeit on DVD rather than theatrically).

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...307196-4612619

But why was the title changed to that of an old Lorenzo Lamas TV show?

necros 08-30-04 12:12 AM

Maybe blueberries are renegade fruits in France?

Ok, I know that wasn't funny.

Josh-da-man 08-30-04 02:48 AM

Christ... the assholes are actually changing the title?

Trigger 08-30-04 03:12 AM

Sheesh... looks like I'll be hitting up another region for this one.

harosa 08-30-04 06:11 AM

I cant wait for this to hit US DVD, only so others that are region free handicapped can see what a monumental waste of time and talent this movie is.

ArchibaldTuttle 08-30-04 09:13 AM

I agree it wasn't that good of a movie, but some of the shots were gorgeous, I thought the dp did a pretty good job.

Yup, saw it at Fantasia and it sucks big time. And I'm a fan of pretty much everyone in that flick.

I like the actors in this film and have been looking foward to it since I saw the trailer. What's so bad about it? Is it a 100% crap or is it just not as good as it should have been but still watchable?

ArchibaldTuttle 09-06-04 05:08 PM

I am a big fan of everyone in the movie as well, I think it's worth watching, but when you're done watching it's like what the hell did I just watch. Despite being really crappy, the movie is really beautiful so it has that going for it but not much else imo.

Venom 12-15-04 05:23 AM

in case it flew in under anyones radar, Blueberry is on dvd in r1 now. infact, i guess it's been out for awhile since it is a week long rental at blockbuster. only now it's called Revenge.

Geofferson 12-15-04 08:34 AM

It slipped under my radar - thanks Venom!

Jay G. 12-15-04 08:52 AM

Note that the new title for the film is Renegade, not Revenge. There's a review of it up on this site:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=13035

FWIW, I rented it and didn't think it was that good.

Well come on i got the R right :D

but yeah, it wasn't anything great. such a pity becuase it looked good and had a good cast.

Trigger 12-15-04 06:23 PM

This film wasn't that great - I imagine it only gets talked about so much primarily because you get to see Juliette Lewis's snatch.
