I don't see the point of a box set. I mean, 4 discs for each movie....what else could they have (or maybe more importantly, what else could you want)!?
I'll be fine with my 3 expanded editions...and they'll look soooo perty next to each other like 3 beautiful old books.

Let's wait until it's official to get excited. There was a rumor that TTT was to be released in June of this year but they waited until late August.
I think they will sell more copies if they do release it earlier, since fewer people will pass and just get the EE if the wait is longer.

I'm gonna wait for an official announcement from New Line. Sorry, but the movie isn't even out in theatres yet. Plus, what would a rep from Toy Biz know about the dvd release of ROTK?

I dont see the point in waiting so long again this year, most of the point in releasing them in August and November before was to help hype for the following installment in December. Since RotK is the final, I would think they would release when they are ready to do so, 6 months after the theatrical release.

Like Drexl said, I wouldn't read too much into this at this point. It's just the first guess at a date, using the normal 6-month-from-release-date rule. Depending on how the movie does ... and how many Oscars it wins ... the release date will change.
