Indiana Jones - The Original R. Kelly?

OK, how do I put this tastefully? I like Indiana Jones and all, but is anyone else DISTURBED by this dialogue from Raiders of the Lost Ark???:

Marion: I learned to hate you in the last ten years.

Indy: I never meant to hurt you.

Marion: I was a child. I was in love. It was wrong and you knew it.

Indy: You knew what you were doin'.

Please tell me I'm interpreting this wrong!

No... not really.

According to my research, Indy was born in 1899... and Raiders takes place in 1936... making Indy about 37 at that time.

If it was 10 years prior to that that they were 'together' he would have been 27 and she would have been around 17... but come on we are talking about 1926... and that was quite acceptable in some areas of the world.

You put to much thought and concern into this... and I should know, I put in 10 mins of research time into it.

Well seeing that ol' man Ford is currently dating Calista Flockhart, maybe some of Indiana rubbed off on him.

No, Indiana never did the deed with one of the skeletons from the Well of the Souls.

Here's a pitch for Indy 4: Short Round meets up with Indy 20 years after their adventure in India, and now seeks revenge for Indy selling him to a sweat shop in Shanghai. Shorty's pissed and has been working on his kung-fu....

I thought this was going to be about the girl sending him messages on her eyelids. Although a college student would probably be of age.

You see, it all makes sense now.

That's why he made it his mission to free the enslaved children in the temple of doom.
