Ravenous

Time to discuss one of my all-time favorite movies....

I am just so in love with its raw principle of survival and suffering.

Just to imagine all that Boyd (Guy Pearce) goes through in the movie. It's just awesome.

On a related note: Was Guy Pearce wearing a wig for this movie?
His hair looks pretty cool, did he just let it grow?

I'll chime in saying that I liked it a lot as well. I remember going to see it as a late show on a weeknight a few years ago. The following morning, I was telling everyone I saw to go see it.

Great flick!!!

One of the all-time underrated movies IMO. With one of the truly great underrated performances as well by Robert Carlyle (sp?). Also a funny little easter egg on the DVD with the Ravenous beef jerky.

Eat me.

;)

Jeffrey Jones, as usual, is great.

This is one of my favorites too. I have my Ravenous postcard right here by my computer.

You are who you eat!

"Well. Isn't this civilized?"

One of my favorite lines. Plus a scene showing something that so many of us have wanted to do ourselves:
Spoiler:
sink an ax into David Arquette.

He's Licking me!

SunMonkey 10-18-03 10:51 PM

Yup. Pretty cool movie. It certainly wasn't marketed well.

:consume:

I'm hungry. :(

Would be interesting to run a poll asking if people would or wouldn't do what Boyd did.

I've been impressed by the 3 movies written by Ted Griffin that I've seen. Looks like he'll have another good one in 2005.

I didn't like it, but I thought it was okay - saw it in the theater and remember feeling let down. I'd watch it again though.

Parcher 10-19-03 09:02 AM

Yeah, badly marketed, unfortunately.

It's just my kind of movie, but not John Doe's kind of movie.

Ted Griffin certainly is doing well ever since Ravenous, glad he's got such a career going. I'd like to read the Ravenous script, esp. the original.

already asked, I know: But was Guy Pearce wearing a wig for this movie? If no, then how did he get his hair like that?

iggystar 10-19-03 08:00 PM

I really loved this movie. Loved the score as well. Very different, completely different from what I expected going in. Everyone was very good in this movie. Not your cookie cutter script at all.

Thought I'd bump this Ravenous thread as well with my comments.

Saw this flick when it first came out and loved it, bought the DVD and loved it even more. This movie has plenty of the red stuff and isn't afraid to show any of it.

Yes, as said previoulsy, this movie was not marketed well at all and is also very underrated in general.

I'm glad there are many others who thinks this film rocks

Check this one out if you haven't already and if you have, check it out again.

"Walnut Boyd?"

muggins 06-26-04 12:10 PM

I thought this movie was awesome. I picked it up on DVD from the 20% off sale at DVD.

Still waiting for it to arrive.

TomOpus 06-26-04 12:26 PM

Yet another movie I still need to pick up. When I saw it at the theater I thought it was okay but maybe I was expecting something different. Maybe I was in a weird mood. In hindsight I've come to the realization that it was better than I first thought.
