Arnold: Dwayne Johnson in T4?

This was posted over at Dark Horizons

Terminator 4: 'BotBot' has some interesting stuff on another sequel with someone else at mind now Arnie's the Governor - "There have been meetings to talk about a T4 recently. T3 wasn't a smash - but it made enough to get the gang fluttering over it's potential as a new franchise. Not surprisingly, the latest is that it might be without Arnold. He apparently has said that he could do a cameo toward the start or end of the film, but his other commitments would make it near impossible for him to headline it. There's talk of bringing in another big name to headline it, Arnold's apparently suggested Dwayne Johnson. Arnold did a cameo in Dwayne's latest flick - and has put in a good word for the wrestler cum action star. I know they want to get Linda Hamilton back for a bizarre dream sequence. I think she'll come around - if only because Jon Mostow's not directing. I predict it'll happen for Summer 2005 against Bat and Indy over at P'mount. A rock/T4 might just work".
After Scorpion King, I doubted Johnson but I was really impressed
with him in The Rundown. My thought? Let's see it. I think we
need the next generations "Arnold" and I think Johnson has
potential.

Is there a need to be so esoteric? Just say 'The Rock' in T4.

SunMonkey 10-08-03 08:41 PM

The Rock is a fun guy for a doesn't-take-itself-serious action film, but I don't know about him as a terminator. I mean, his big thing is the raised eyebrow thing, and I just can't see a cyborg needing to do that while going about its everyday business.

Sorry, I know they call him the Rock, but I thought that was a
character he played or something.

just what I was thinking. Rock is a big guy, but I don't think he's hard core enough for a machine.

I dunno, could be, but a lot of people scoffed at Arnold as an
actor way back in the time of T1 (those of us that were old
enough will remember). It is Acting of course. Heck all you have
to do is walk around somber like and look pissed off....He'd be
perfect. ;)

Well arnold did make a cameo in run down. so who knows.

RyoHazuki 10-08-03 09:29 PM

What does Hamilton have against Mostow?

fumanstan 10-08-03 09:31 PM

/me waits for Sessa to voice his disapproval of The Rock :)

But i'd have to say that i don't think he would be appropriate for a T4.

Kal-El 10-09-03 12:05 AM

Heck no. Sorry, but Arnold, governor or not WILL ALWAYS BE 'til the end of time The Terminator. No one else can be it.

Terrell 10-09-03 12:56 AM

Oh God! Personally, I wish Hollywood would stop shoving the Rock down my throat. Count me out on T4 then. I can't stand the guy as an actor or wrestler. He sure as hell is no Terminator, should never be the Terminator, and isn't fit to be Terminator.

Nothing. Just the fact that it wasn't a Jim Cameron film.
She still has a thing for him, you see. Oh, how love takes root deep, and does not die easily...

A Terminator movie wouldn't be the same without Arnold. I haven't seen The Rock in The Rundown or Scorpion King so I can't comment on his acting but I am not seeing it unless Arnold headlines it. They also need to get Claire Danes and Nick Stalh back as they did a good job in the last one.

REL77 10-09-03 10:24 AM

Could be an interesting twist to the series, but I just dont see it happeneing

Groucho 10-09-03 10:34 AM

Now that his movie career is taking off is he going to start using his real name? Perhaps "Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson" for a couple flicks, and then drop the Rock entirely.

In deleted scenes for the first Terminator, they show T-800 Terminators that don't look like Arnold (which makes sense if you think about it...kind of spoils the disguise to have them all look and sound alike), so it could work.

Watched the Rundown last night.. I was impressed with the Rock. It could be a franchise series for him. I think he had enough charisma to carry the movie. I'll wait to see if Spy Hunter does well.. He has the opportunity to be a decent action film star and i hope he doesn't turn into another Vin Diesel.

Why? He has the acting ability of a rock. When the shoe fits ...

:crap:

so anyways, what proof do you have to back this up? I have plenty of proof stating that The Rock was the funniest man on Television for over a year straight...much funnier than half the sitcom actors on TV right now....go watch some WWE tapes to get my drift

even his stuff from his last WWE appearances this year are gold... Rock Concert's 1 & 2, & Hurricane are all funny

then in his past you have "A Funeral For a Friend", "This is Your Life", then all of his other classic interviews/promos ok

so don't spew shit unless you can back it up :)

fumanstan 10-09-03 01:38 PM

And he was hilarious hosting SNL as well. The guy can act better then any other 'action' star out there right now

I get tired of the "hollywood is shoving the rock down our throat crap." I mean so far he has been the lead in two movies. Not exactly overusing him :)

Anyway Terminator 3 seemed to be a good end to Arnold's trilogy. It wouldn't feel like the Terminator without Arnold but I feel another part with the same terminator would be a little much. Not my favorite idea but I like the rock so I would probably check it out.

You prove to me that he is a good actor first...

jaeufraser 10-09-03 02:58 PM

I actually wouldn't mind seeing this. Assuming a good story could be written, and that Arnold would particapate in at least a supporting part (he has to be in at least PART of the movie) then I'm all for it. Personally I like the Rock and hope he makes some good action movies. After The Rundown, I have complete faith he can headline a movie. And people who pick on his acting...I mean, seriously, were Arnold or Sly really ever great thespians? The Rock has good comedic timing and quite frankly...when he beats someone up, I can buy it. So T4 could be cool...continuity with part 3 would be great though.

DonnachaOne 10-09-03 03:52 PM

Johnson's contract with WWE means that, if he works in a non-WWE production, Vince McMahon has to approve it and he gets a cut. As a result, 'WWE Films''s McMahon gets a credit as Executive Producer, and Johnson uses the name "The Rock".

You can see why Hollywood would want to use the name "The Rock" though. Quick and recognizable.

"The Rundown, starring a guy named Dwayne!" No...

In The Rundown he did a better job than Walken.
