Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - expanded TV edit?

I thought I had read that the network US television premier of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" was to include previousily deleted footage re-incorporated back into the narrative of the story - what's the story here, I am surprised that it hasn't happened yet. How much footage did hit the cutting room floor? Word was that there was more deleted footage purposefully not included on the DVD, so the TV debut would be a 'special event'.

The original cut was somewhere around 4 hours according to the imdb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0241527/alternateversions

  • The original cut of the film clocked in at 4 hours. WB has been very protective over most of the cut footage (besides what appears on the DVD) and the only sneak peeks we get of other scenes are simply quick shots from the older trailers. Among those shots are:
    • A shot of Dudley and the Dursleys screaming as Hagrid bursts through the door of the hut on the rock.
    • A shot of Hermione giving Ron a smug look as she casts the wingardium leviosa spell on her feather.
    • An alternate shot of Hagrid speaking with Harry, Ron, and Hermione after the quidditch match.
    • An alternate shot of the children screaming after meeting Fluffy.
    • A quick shot of Harry looking up into the sky as Oliver Wood releases a bludger.
    • A slightly different shot of the "Up!" sequence. In the first trailer, after Harry summons his broom, you can see Hermione stare at him in disbelief during the same shot. In the final cut, Hermione doesn't look at Harry's way until a few seconds later and when she does, it's at a cut away shot.
    • An alternate shot of Hagrid on the motorbike.
    • Hermione whispering to Ron, "He's rather disagreeable, isn't he?", obviously referring to Malfoy before the sorting ceremony.

  • A deleted scene shown in the trailer and included on the DVD, but absent from the final film, is where Seamus Finnigan says that his eyebrows have grown back. He then turns and his hair is burned on the back of his head.

  • Dumbledore's start of term speech in the trailer has the extra line "No magic is to be used between the classes and corridors." His third floor corridor line is also slightly different than in the final film.

  • In the WB promotional video for the film's release which features on set footage, extra lines not in the film appear. These are:
    • Hagrid telling Harry about the night they dropped him off at the Dursleys'.
    • An extended verion of McGonnagall's welcome speech to the first years.
    • Harry asking Dumbledore what he sees in the Mirror of Erised.
    • Harry putting together out loud everything they discovered so far after Hermione tells them about Nicholas Flamel.

  • On the DVD in the Interviews section, their is a short clip that was deleted from the final print, showing Harry, Hermione, and Ron wandering in the night under the invisbility cloak.
