Here's the answer [finally] to the trailer music:

The Japanese musician/guitarist/actor Hotei Tomayasu plays the music in the "Kill Bill" teaser trailer.

In actuality the music is taken from "Shin Jingi naki Tatakai" ("New Battle without Honor/Duty") a 2000 remake of the classic 70's yakuza film by Kinji Fukasaku (dir. of Battle Royale).

Hotei stars in the 2000 remake as well as his debut performance in the 1998 film "Samurai Fiction", an homage to and in the style of "Pulp Fiction" crossed with Japanese swordfights. eg. a rock n' roll samurai movie.

"Samurai Fiction" was awesome...

Cosmic Bus 01-10-03 08:22 PM

Excellent, thanks Kane! Now if only I could find an MP3...

Damn, I thought I was the only one looking forward to Gans' next film...Crying Freeman was remarkable, Brotherhood of the Wolf was AMAZING, and I'm DROOLING for the next one...as well as Kill Bill

If what I read of an early script is any indication, this will be one fun flick to watch!

However, I do not see how in the world the violence in this flick will make it past the censors and ratings board. Then again, one could look at Pulp Fictions script and say the same thing.

Yeh, I'd love to see some scans JCJF10.

This movie looks pretty interesting and can't wait for its release.

Here's a link to a rough draft of the script if anyone's interested.

Nice read.

Nice read, but doubt it's what we'll see come fall.

A friend of mine (who is in the review "industry") called this guy a "prick" and "guarantees" that the review is "completely bogus" since the film is "nowhere near completion" and it's not "worth your pageview" -- for what it's worth.

Bumping this thread to point out that there's now more stuff up at the official site.

Mondo Kane 02-16-03 03:18 AM

I just checked the site out and it still looks like the same ol'. What are the new changes?

Well, when www.kill-bill.com was last mentioned in this thread it didn't contain the forum, the info about the film or anything else. All it had was a single image that said "Kill Bill".

Cosmic Bus 02-23-03 11:06 AM

I find myself compulsively watching the trailer at least once a week, and loving the hell out of it every time.

And someone recently pointed me to an MP3 of the music in the trailer:

SpinDizzy 03-08-03 09:58 PM

cool mp3!

Mondo Kane 03-08-03 11:11 PM

Is there anybody else out there who loves that guitar music on Hanzo street at K-B.com?

Where's the mp3 for that?

Trigger 03-09-03 12:05 AM

Well, QT always wanted to do a kung fu movie - here it is. I'm excited. :)

atari2600 04-05-03 01:48 AM

kill bill??

this is a tarantino movie? has uma in it but i swear while watching this preview (before phone booth) i was like 'no effing way' (because they tell you its a taratino film before it starts...)

its like a cross between sleeping tiger, hidden dragon (or whatever its called) and matrix.

tarantino? am i missing something here?

it looks pretty good though.

caiman 04-05-03 01:58 AM

Where have you been for the last two years?

atari2600 04-05-03 02:02 AM

i dunno...i just think of pulp fiction and reservoir dogs...

what has he directed recently (i have no idea! :))

caiman 04-05-03 02:04 AM

His last movie was Jackie Brown in 1997. Kill Bill is his big "comeback" movie ( ), and has been rumored about and discussed for quite a while now.

atari2600 04-05-03 02:09 AM

ok whats the problem with me being shocked at him making a film like this - jackie brown totally supports my case even further. just because im not aware of the latest tarantino rumors doenst make me wrong.

No problem really, it just means you aren't a huge internet geek who spends all your time looking stuff up about directors and movies and upcoming projects and whatnot like the rest of us. Tarantino, as is widely known, has always had big love for old kung-fu movies and has always wanted to make one. He finally did and here it is.

I'm excited for it personally cuz I'm a geek.

I didn't really mean to make it sound like you were wrong or something. Did I suggest that somehow?
