what were in the 'holes'?
lets keep this clean folks
anyways, in the movie holes, whats in the holes? forget spoiler tags since i will never see this movie (so feel free to explain anything). but for some reason im just curious, whats in them darn holes thats such a big deal?
all i know is that it glows (i hope its not something corny like "your inner soul" or happiness but since its a disney flick i wouldnt be surprised) and people get all shocked when they look at it.
and if there is an explanation that goes along with it, please share that too (e.g. "it was the key!"...the key for what?)
thanks.

I will put spoiler tags, since I will basically give a synopsis of the movie:
This was based on a book, and while I haven't read the book, I actually thought the movie was fairly good.

just read the book, im sure its a lot better, like most books are. the book came along (about 5-6 years ago) before the movie so the book isnt the script of the movie or whatever.

I saw the movie and then read the book. The film was a worthy adaptation. Indeed, the author of the book wrote the screenplay and was reportedly quite satified with the film.

"But you said the first hole is the hardest."
"The second hole is the hardest. Every kid in the world wants to dig a really big hole. It's sort of fun, and you feel kind of proud that you did it. The second hole, you're already tired, and it's not fun any more."

If you watch the TV-Ad for the DVD (I know the Disney channel airs it) they show the opening of the trunk of gold, thus ruining the "suprise"

Loved the book and the movie. Picked up the DVD today.
The story is great (nice touch of mystery) and has some great characters (Sigourney Weaver, Jon Voight, Tim Blake Nelson, Eartha Kitt and most of the kids).
At least give it a rent. Try it--you'll like it.

Rented it, not sure I would like it, and decided to buy it. I thought it was quite an enjoyable movie, worthy of more than one viewing. Not Disney's best live action flick, but better than most I've seen. The thing that gets me is this past summer, I was deciding between seeing this in the theater and Anger Management. I decided for Anger Management. Let's just say after seeing Holes on DVD, I know now that was a mistake.

Just watched Holes the other day. I REALLY enjoyed this movie. I had only planned on watching half one evening, and the next half the following evening, but I just couldn't turn it off.
There are a numerous flashback scenes to the old west, which are all interesting, though not seemingly necessary. Then as the film come to an end, all the storylines are tied up neatly into a pretty bow.
For those of you who have decided you don't want to see a kid movie, you're doing yourself a disservice. It's well worth a sitting.

This is a great movie. For those of you who are on the fence about seeing or not I highly recommend it. Everything that happens early in the film happens for a reason later on so don't miss anything!
Not sure why the TV ads show the trunk glowing as it is opened because there is nothing "mystical" inside.
