and for the last, maybe they could put it in the biggest theater in the middle of the country - say in Kansas. sounds stupid but it would give people in kansas, oklahoma, iowa, dakotas, nebraska, etc a chance (die hards would make the trip).

Part of me thinks a one-day (well 2 actually) marathon would be great but that is a LONG time to sit. You'd need a couple bathroom breaks, a theater with good food (or a theater that doesn't check for outside food) and really comfortable seats. We'll see how much they charge for it.

I love the movies, and I thought releasing the extended edition of Fellowship prior to The Two Towers last year would have been a great idea, but I can't imagine sitting in my local theater for 7 hours. They are so uncomfortable even for a standard 2 hour movie.
Great idea, though.
Great idea, though.

I'd rather go see FOTR and TTT on the two nights preceding the release of ROTK. I don't want to be cramped from sitting in a theater for 7 hours straight before starting another epic 3+ hour movie. Of course, none of this will happen anywhere near me, so it's a moot point. I'll just watch the two EE DVDs the 2 nights before
Still, this is a great idea.

Here's New Line's official announcement, with good news for those who want to see the two extended LOTR films back to back without being 'worn out' for the third one.

SPECIAL EXTENDED EDITION PRESENTATIONS OF
THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING AND THE TWO TOWERS CULMINATE

I'd rather go see FOTR the week it's relased, go see TTT the week after, and see ROTK when it opens. I have enough trouble being comfortable in a theater for one movie as is, heh.

What!?!? No Churubusco Indiana?!?!?! You friggin corporate sob's don't know jack! That's OK, we'll just get the town together and organize a boycott of ROTK. Then you'll all pay! Sell the Mercedez now!
Seriously, I'll drive the 1.5 hours to D.C. to watch each screening. I'll do the single viewing sessions though, can't dedicate an entire day/night to seeing a marathon back-to-back though.
I'm wondering how tickets will be sold? Hopefully online. I so jacked for this it ain't even funny.
