isn't anybody going to unseat these guys?
they've been dominating since the 80's and no one seems to come close. isn't there some young whippersnapper out there with the same drawing power?
are these the cary grant, gregory peck and humphrey bogart's of the now?

I think Ford is doing a fine job of taking himself out.

I think Harrison Ford is slowly slipping from his glory days.
How about Brad Pitt? He seems to be getting better with every movie he's in.
Ben Affleck has proven that he can maintain a movie all by himself.
Are these two in the same league as the names you've mentioned? No. But I think over time they have what it takes to take the top spots.

I would go with Brad Pitt and Edward Norton as well and raise you George Clooney(not young, but his noteriety is fairly young comparatively speaking) and Johnny Depp. Sam Rockwell needs to do more movies before I could even compare him to any of the above. He is good, however.
I would also say that Vin Diesel was fun to watch in both Pitch Black and Fast and the Furious because at that point you hadnt seen enough of him to know that he didnt have any range or acting talent. I would say that Jason Statham(trying to compare apples to apples) has a lot more charisma and potential than Vin Diesel does at this point, but he could prove me wrong as well though.

Like Cusm said, Ford is doing just fine taking himself out of the race of the acting elite. Cruise and Hanks are still going strong and aside from Lethal Weapon, I'm not a huge Gibson fan. I don't care for Brad Pitt - for some reason he just rubs me the wrong way.
I'll take Denzel Washington, Kevin Spacey, and George Clooney. Ben Affleck ain't there yet (neither is Matt Damon) but if they come across a string of really good scripts, they might have a chance.

I think Spacey and Norton are in a different league than the rest. They are more akin to Olivier, O'Toole, Guinness, Heston than Tracey and some of the "big box office draw" actors of the past.

Edward Norton
Kevin Spacey
Brad Pitt
These guy's are goin' to have some lasting power...
As for the three you mentioned..
Tom Cruise - Picks up good scripts.
Harrison Ford - Use to be the man, but as of late is slipping, movie's like 'Holywood Homicide' didn't help matters.
Tom Hanks - I watched an interview with Hank's once and he said he had "f**k off money", which means he only does movie's he wants to do...

Of the four mentioned, I don't think Harrison Ford has the respect he once had.

I hope you are right. I like Ford a lot better than Cruise.
I just have this fear that Indy IV is going to look like an old man trying to recapture his youth and not being very succesful.
