Originally posted by brizz this really does seem like the most eyebrow-raising craptacular installment of the fall season.... It is a Peter Weir film. Even with something as commercial as a Jim Carrey film, Weir made it into a near-masterpiece. I, for one, and very excited to see what Weir can be with this one. |
really only Stuck on You and Timeline. I will see LOTR: ROTK and Matrix: Revolutions, but I'm not exactly camping out to see them.
|
I'll get many of them on dvd, but the only ones I'll see in the theater are Matrix, LotR, and possibly Kill Bill.
|
I'm looking forward to:
Once Upon A Time in Mexico Kill Bill Intolerable Cruelty Timeline Runaway Jury The Missing The Alamo LOTR Master and Commander Wonderland The Matrix Cabin Fever |
Kill Bill
Once Upon A Time Last Samurai The Matrix: Revolutions The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and 1 August movie.... JEEPERS CREEPERS 2. :) |
Kill Bill, Matrix Revolutions, Cabin Fever

Eternal Sunshine o fthe Spotless Mind - 11/14 - Charlie Kaufman's latest stars Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet (as well as Kirsten Dunst, Tom Wilkinson, and Elijah Wood). Winslett erases ex-bf Carrey from her memory banks via a radical new surgery. VERY much looking forward to this one. |
This is based on the EW fall preview issue.
September: Must see Lost in Translation (S.Coppola) - Really liked her 'Virgin Suicides.' Once upon a time in Mexico (Rodriguez) - Will be a guilty pleasure, but I think Depp and co. will make it a good one. Maybe Bollywood/Hollywood Cabin Fever Millennium Actress (anime) Party Monster Already seen: So Close - Its a Charlie's Angels with a surprise or two. October: Must See Alien: DC (Scott) - Not sure how wide a release this is, but we'll see. Elephant (Van Sant) - Best of a Bad Cannes, or deserving after all? Flower of Evil (Chabrol) In the Cut (Campion) Intolerable Cruelty (Coen) Kill Bill 1 (Tarantino) - Guilty pleasure of the month. Should we read into the fact that they haven't announced a date for part 2? Mystic River (Eastwood) - Last couple of Clint's films have left the critics unimpressed, but not this one, which is a good sign. School of Rock (Linklater) - Jack Black alone might not gotten me to see it, but Linklater is always interesting. Maybe Die Mommie Die Veronica Guerin (Schumaker) Already Seen Bus 174 - Excellent Documentary, esp. if you liked stuff like 'Capturing the Friedmans.' November: Master and Commander (Weir) - Despite Crowe, I think Weir will make it worth the price of admission. Matrix: Revolutions (Wachowski) - Hopefully this'll make the second one make sense. 21 Grams (Innaritu) - Naomi Watts, Sean Penn - sold. Maybe Bad Santa (Favreau) In My Skin - mostly because Grimfarrow says its the most disturbing film he's ever seen. Already Seen House of Sand and Fog - Saw this in a test screening and I think it needed a lot of work. December: Must See The Company (Altman) - Altman, 'nuff said. Lord of the Rings (Jackson) - If I get more of the first two, I'll be happy. Stuck on You (Farrelly) - I might be one of the few who really liked 'Shallow Hal' so I'll go see this one. Maybe Cold Mountain Fog of War No mention in EW about 'Eternal Sunshine' - is that release date not confirmed or something? |
I will get most of the ones I want to see on DVD but I will definitely trek to the theater to see the following:
Underworld(even if it sucks I get to hours of a leather-clad Kate Beckinsale) Cabin Fever Matrix Revolutions LOTR Alamo Last Samurai I will probably be dragged to the theater by my wife to see Cat in the Hat. However, my most anticipated movie of the fall/winter season is Big Fish. It is my most anticipated because it is done by Tim Burton but I also enjoyed the book a lot. The book fits Burton's style perfectly and, from what I have been reading about the movie(from the producers and other people that are "in the know"), they are comparing the movie to "Forrest Gump"...only done by Tim Burton. I have even read that this is the film that will give Burton serious Oscar contention. Like I said...this is what I've read. For those who don't know Big Fish is about a dying man by the name of Edward Bloom. His estranged son Will is trying to find out who his father really was through the series of "Big Fish" stories, i.e tall tales, that his Father always told about his life that Will wasn't even in or only a footnote in the story. We get Giants, conjoined twins, Monster fish, huge blizzards and more. The main cast is: Ewan McGregor as young Edward Alison Lohman as young Sandra(Edward's Wife) Billy Crudup as Will Albert Finney as old Edward Jessica Lange as old Sandra(Edward's Wife) It also stars Danny DeVito, Helena Bonham Carter and Steve Buscemi |
