Jan Kounen (Doberman) adapting "Blueberry" comic strip.

The western, currently in post production, is titled "The Adventures of Mike S. Blueberry", and stars Vicent Cassel, Michael Madsen, Temuera Morrisson, Tcheky Karyo, Djimon Hounsou, Juliette Lewis, Eddie Izzard, Ernest Borgnine.

Saddly, no Monica Belluci. :)

Synopsis:

In 1870's the U.S Marshall Mike S. Blueberry tries to stop Wally Blount, the man who killed his girlfriend from getting to a stockpile of gold hidden in Indian territory. In his way, meets Prosit, a german villain on a persistant mission to find pots of gold in the Superstition Montains.

Doberman had it's moments but I wasn't overly impressed with it, i.e. more style than substance. We'll have to wait and see what Kounen does with this.

Anyone a fan of that comic strip? The name "Blueberry" rings a bell but I can't say I ever read it.

Edited to add: It's a French comic strip by Jean Giraud, aka Moebius.

Isn't that the comic by French artist Moebius? I think it was serialized in Heavy Metal magazine years ago (and maybe in the French original, Metal Hurlant as well?)

cultshock, yup I edited my post but you beat me to it. :)

Have you guys seen that French Premiere cover? I don't know why, but I think Cassell looks oddly feminine when he lets his facial hair grow out. http://vcassel.free.fr/blueberry/ima...uvpremiere.jpg

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this movie. I hope it has a lot of interesting and weird visuals. Certain desert scenes in The Hulk reminded me of Blueberry for some reason.

This film looks like it could be interesting. And I've been inspired to go dig up my old Heavy Metals, so I can check out the comic again.

And yes, that French Premiere cover is a bit odd.
