Well, you'll probably have to wait until December for that. I'm not really sure what they'd attach it to though.
Later on tonight I'll try and post JK's description of Lupin. Then we can see how precisely it matches up. |
From memory I recall the first time they see Lupin on the train to school he was described as a man who looked like he was literally falling apart.

The stranger was earing an extremely shabby set of wizard's robes which had been darned in several places. He looked ill and exhausted. Though quite youhgn, his light-brown hair was flecked with grey.
I suppose I personally always imagined him in his late 30s or mid 40s. Especially when you have "young" next to some 13 year olds and who knows how old Dumbledore. I guess Reloaded would make sense since it's huge for WB, but you also have to think it's an R movie, so I'm not sure it would be that big of a lead in. Though knowing how scrupless the companies are, they'll probably do it just to try and get 10 year olds to come see Revolutions! Something else that crossed my mind was the Dementors. I don't know what they are going to end up looking like, but the Dark Knights (sorry I don't know their exact names), from Lord of the Rings are exactly what I think they should look like. Except perhaps no feet and floating. |
Originally posted by Kal Jedi I know I read somewhere they're gonna attach it to Revolutions or some such big WB November movie. Even though many adults enjoy potter, this does not make any sense on a studio standpoint. Tag on a PG family friendly trailer to a Rated R film? nope sir, not gonna happen. first of all this will want to make the trailer a theater draw for a film that is either not as strong or what they will feel is a strong box office draw film. they do not relate the Harry Potter majority fan base with the fan base of the matrix. |
Do we know anything about this fellow who is playing Tom R.?

I appologize Morf, for some odd reason I had COS storyline going through my head...
As for how "old" they are looking, you have to keep a few things in mind. 1) New director guy is going for a bit more of a hipper look. (which is kinda odd, cause I don't really think Ron or Hermione ever really wear anything besides their robes in the books). Even if they do, we've never seen them on screen without them IIRC. 2) They are supposed to be older. Emma Watson is now the age of her character in this book. So it's not like they are "off" or anything. Besides, you haven't seen them in about a year and a half - even though the movie came out more recently than that, it finished filming before then. |

I kinda like the idea of Cauron changing the clothes from robes to regular clothes. This is one of those minor changes I talked about in my previous post. I am sure the robes will still be around but let the kids wear normal clothes sometimes. I like the robes in the books but I am glad they are mixing it up a bit in this movie.
From the picture posted on the web it looks like they are going to have Ron look a bit akward in typical clothes. This does make sense as he is a pure blood wizard, which would make him more uncomfortable wearing muggle clothes, as opposed to Harry and Hermoine who live in the muggle world. This might actually might be a decision they made that will really pay off in HP4 at the Quiddich World Cup. I need a trailer! |

Should Aragorn show up in The Return of the King wearing a pair of jeans and a wool cap? |
I agree with you robodad.
http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/im...unMcGHarry.jpg look at that picture. Unless they are coming back from Hogsmade I'll be pretty upset if throughout the whole movie they are wearing normal cloths. since I would understand the free dress outside of school, but not really inisde. http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/im...ioneMalfoy.jpg Though I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/tv...00/2960600.stm you could see them in there robes right there so hopefully they will stay true to that and not go with the street cloths.. this is fantasy and really, cloths of the "time" can make a film look dated later on down the road. |

Well we obviously know that they don't all run around going to King's Cross in their robes, otherwise they would look off.
So that scene with McGonagal leads me to believe that it would either be at the end when everybody is getting back on the train, or couldn't it be on their way out to Hogsmead? Remember, we have never seen this place before. |
I don't know what everyone is so upset about. I think it is clear that they are wearing normal clothes when going to, coming back from, or staying in Hogsmeade.

I'm actually anxious to see this movie. Prisoner of Azkaban is probably the best of all the Harry Potter books.

Originally posted by Draven That's an awful analogy. "Harry Potter" takes place in the real world in modern times. Sorry to burst your bubble, but Harry Potter does not take place in the real world. It is pure fantasy with a few tenuous references to reality. As Jackskeleton says, the use of topical references (such as current clothing fashions) will only lessen the appeal of the movie in later years, since it will appear dated. |

There is no reference in the novels that Ron and Hermione always wear their robes. They would be able to dress in street clothes, especially when they are out in the muggle world. |

You also need to keep in mind that some of the books were writting well before the series was popular. The Scorcere's/Philosopher's Stone was originally published in '97 - that was 6 years ago, and if I remember correctly there was no PS2 back then.
I'm not sure if you are trying to support the changes in the movie, or not? |

I'm not sure if you are trying to support the changes in the movie, or not? I'm just saying that Rowling has already established the books in the "here and now" so if the kids are wearing clothes in the movie that fit today's times, I have no problems with that. The books are already dated. |
Gotcha! I agree, I just hope it's not over done and they have them wearing "regular" clothes all over the place. On the weekends or outside of school, but I don't think they need to be running down the halls to class in "regular" clothes.
ein Tier - I actually thought the second one was the best. However, four was really good. Keep in mind I'm not done with 5 yet - thought it really has a different vibe to it. |
who cares? Prisoner is the most boring of the Harry Potter books. Goblet of fire is when it really takes of.
