I've only seen the movie in the theater, not the DVD. I can say with certainty there was no scene with the inn manager dead in a boat in the theater version I saw. I also don't believe there was a scene with Rachel finding other video tapes in the dead girls dresser in the beginning.

The others you mention I can't remember either way, just that I know the above two definitely weren't anything I saw.

I finally watched this flick the other nite and I must admit I was on the edge of my seat. However, the ending confused me just a bit.

Spoiler:
so what is this Samara? Why does making copies keep you from being killed?

If I remember correctly:

Spoiler:
To spread the word about her. That's all she wants...

Thanks guys.

I guess I'll have to check out the original now.

I don't know if anyone else seen this before.. but I think the original poster had my same problem.

When I watched "The Fast and the Furious" the first one, I remember the race with the Supra and the Ferrari. You know, when Vin Diesel said "Smoke 'em" because the Ferrari guy was being a jerk.

I distinctly remember Brian(Paul Walker) pressing the NOS button to pass by the Ferrari, but when the DVD version came out, that part wasn't in there. Did anyone else see this glitch?

Maybe this is the same thing that happen here.

I'm telling you man, it's everywhere. The companies are chopping up bits and pieces of the movies. I probably wouldn't mind so much if the parts they did take out were boring or didn't have any purpose but alot of the scenes like the one you mentioned above are good scenes and it's makes no sense to cut it out. Someone call or write to the studios making those DVDs and ask them flat out are they making a full complete transfer of the movie version to the DVD. This pisses me off and makes me want to bring a digital camera into the theaters to get photographic proof that this is happening.

Another scene was in the beginning of the movie, at the family gathering after the teen girl was killed. Rachel was talking with the girl's mother (in the girl's room I think), and Rachel was asking if her daughter was into any kind of bad stuff like drugs. Her mother said she knew her daughter and her daughter tells her everything. Then Rachel said something to the effect, "She didn't tell you she had a boyfriend". Then they talk about how they found her daughter in the closet. Her mother was standing next to the closet door and she slid it open and then the camera cuts to the scene of her daughter sitting down inside the closet dead. But that's not how it was in the DVD movie.

I haven't viewed the dvd so I don't know if this scene wasn't in the movie on the dvd, but when I saw it in the theater, this scene was definately in the movie. I watched it twice (in ann arbor) at two different theaters, once on opening night and again maybe a month later and both times this scene was in there, I remember distinctly cause I thought it was the scariest part. HTH.

I also had an argument like this with a friend who is "always right" or likes to think he is anyway. The movie was Ace Ventura and we were watching it on TV I think (this was quite a few years ago). A scene came on and he said that it wasn't in the film originally. I had seen the scene before and so I knew that it wasn't new. We argured for the longest time. Eventually we bet, and then ran down to the video store and rented it. I won the bet. :D
If the scene was when Ace comes out of the dolphin tank and talks to the reporters you better give the money back....That was added on the VHS version as well. I use to have the VHS and it says something about additional footage...
