Well, I guess everyone knows where I stand on a certain car chase film this year . My favorite freeway scene this summer involved Paul Walker in a Camaro, Tyrese in a Challenger, and ejection seats. Don't hate....... celebrate.

Just came back from Bad Boys II and it gets my vote.
|
I'm giving my vote for BB2 (just barely). The Matrix car chase scene left my physically exhausted after watching it. Way cool, good choreography. BB2 was also cool and it has the funny factor going for it. Anytime they're not just using the cars but actually throwing them at drivers you got to hand it to the stunt drivers. Plus, there was a boat involved as well. How do you top that? T3's car chase is up there as well but not as good as these two.

reloaded followed by T3 then BB2.
all were fun and will be nice at home on dvd :D |
I vote for T3 as well... Im going to buy the DVD just so I can watch the semi/crane flip scene over and over and over again. Maybe a few times in 1/4 speed. :) Just amazing.

1. T3
2. Bad Boys II 3. Matrix: Reloaded I'll take real stunt work over CGI anyday. |
Freeway chase scene...MR: Reloaded vs Bad Boys II
I just checked out Bad Boys II last night, Thought it was very good. I especially liked the freeway car chase scene. I was quite surprised to see that unlike the W. Brothers, Michael Bay decided to film this scene with LITTLE TO NO CG and it paid off. The action to me looks much more realistic and authentic when compared to TMR, where it's appearent there was blatent use of CG. I DO think the content of the scene in TMR is more pleasurable to watch however, considering we ARE looking at a Sci-fi flick for crying out loud.
So with that said, which out of these two freeway chase scenes do you think is both more entertaining to watch, and is technically more impressive? |
forgot the chase in t3, and the italian job and there was already a thread on this
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...y+chase+matrix I said bb2 because it didn't seem as fake looking. |
im not talking about those two Im talking about *THESE TWO* movies! Its between THESE TWO movies **ONLY**
|
That last thread's title was "Better Freeway scene - Reloaded or Bad Boys 2?"
And people still threw in T3, Italian Job, and Final Destination 2. :) |
Bad Boys II. I really appreciate Michael Bay's use of physical effects. I believe that only a couple of those shots used CG.
The only bad part of The Matrix chase was when the 18-wheelers collide. Did they really think "hey, this looks good"? |
Bump, because I asked it first. :)
|
Ooh. Forgot about Final Destination 2. Excellent scene. Not really a chase scene though.
|
First off Bad Boys used CG here and there. Second, I thought the chase was much weaker. Sure there were more physical stunts, but they didn't destroy nor have nearly as many amazing things going on. Cars get dumped on freeway, ferrari swerves, stuff blows up. Solid entertainment, the ferrari was half CG, but it really wasn't that amazing. After Reloaded and T3 I was let down a bit.
Physical effects are cool, but driving head first into traffic on a Ducati and seeing 10 cars flying in the air in slow motion was far more impressive. Another thing that's worth noting...Matrix probably had way more physical effects than Bad Boys 2. In fact, I'm pretty sure of it to the tune of 300 vehicles destroyed (courtesy of GM I believe). |
Reloadeds was incredible
|
I enjoyed reloaded's chase a bit more
|
The Bad Boys 2 chase has no climax. It just peters off. Also, (can't believe I'm saying this) I agree with IGN's reviewer when he says that Bay obviously staged and SHOT all of the footage needed to put together possibly the greatest chase in history, but the editing fails to live up to the quality of the footage. While the scene is not confusing like some of Bay's older action scenes, it never gets into a good flow either. I think if you gave the same raw footage to another director to oversee on editing, even some middle of the road but competent guy like Richard Donner, the final edit would be spectacular.
I wasn't that crazy about the Reloaded chase either, but you know, they really DID flip & crush most of those cars. It just looks weird because the stunts themselves were unrealistic. But they did it practically. It's quite clear when the cars are CGI and when they're not. Same with BB2, you can tell when the Ferrari turns into Gran Turismo. Ultimately, I like the Reloaded chase a bit more. However, aside from Trinity driving against traffic, I really only liked the chase scene for its non-chasing segments (samurai sword vs SUV, razor blade vs seat belt fight inside the car). Go figure... |
Bad Boys 2 is just a horrible movie.
Reloaded , while flawed, engaged me a lot more - which made the chase scene more exciting. |
Reloaded all the way!
|
Gotta go with T3
|
Wasn't T3 just on a street and not a freeway? :)
|
Yes it was. Also I wonder if all these "boo hoo cgi" people actually realise how little cgi was in the Reloaded chase.
|
I voted for Bad Boys II. When the Haitians started throwing the cars of the truck, I was just like holy s***. Plus, I really love the real stunt work over CGI anyday.
|
better scene: reloaded.
best scene: final destination 2 |
freeway or no, I thought T3 had a great chase scene. Better than Matrix Reloaded? Arguable. Better than Bad Boys 2? Yup.
