I don't see how it could be anything but Bond....Bond was around long before the rest of these series got started, and Bond will be around long after they end.

Man that's one hell of a crazy wife.

Bond. It was going long before Star Wars existed, and all indications are that it will be going long after Stars Wars is gone.

Has anyone ever tried to do an inflation-adjusted count of the worldwide grosses for Bond? It would be interesting to compare them to the Star Wars series.

OK, here are the totals from IMDB.com and Box Office Mojo, with the number of movies in paranthesis:

Star Wars - $1,801.9 (5)
James Bond - $1,271.9 (21)
Star Trek - $755.5 (10)
Batman - $711.0 (5)
LOTR - $655.3 (2)
Harry Potter - $579.6 (2)
Rocky - $496.3 (5)
Lethal Weapon - $487.6 (4)
Back to the Future - $416.8 (3)
Terminator - $357.9 (3)
Ghostbusters - $351.1 (2)
Friday the 13th - $234.6 (10)

In all fairness... the Terminator trilogy will probably add at least another $30-60 million, pushing it above Back to the Future. And LOTR and Harry Potter will both release hugely succesful sequels in the near future that will bump them up the list.

Nothing but Star Wars.

The Bond series is like Nintendo. It's been around a long time, but only every once in a while does it do something really great.

-eek- Now divide by number of movies.

They are all influential to some extent. But I think Star Wars is the one that started it all.

Exactly.

$2,973,212,483 divided by 5 is $594,642,496.6 per movie.

$3,236,808,000 divided by 21 is $154,133,714.3 per movie.

Star Wars outweighs Bond by $410,508,782.3 per movie.

Like I said before. Star Wars wins.
