Connery: Spielberg not doing Indy 4

From ComingSoon.net

http://www.comingsoon.net/news.php?id=495

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen star Sean Connery talked to Entertainment Tonight about his possible involvement in Indiana Jones 4. While he says he's interested, he also reveals that, according to his contacts, director Steven Spielberg is off the project.

Connery says, "All I know is that somebody called the office and said that Steven was not doing the movie. That Harrison had in fact verbally agreed to do another one. And would I be interested? But of course I would, I had a very good experience with it. Disappointed to hear that Steven wouldn't be doing it. But in the end it always gets down to how good the book is, the script is, and if it's really workable."

Good news that Sean would be up for another film, but definitely disappointing to hear that Spielberg won't return. Or is Connery misinformed?
Yamma hamma. Definitely not good news, if it is true.

Groucho 07-02-03 04:30 PM

Hopefully they can get that guy who did Jurassic Park 3 for Spielberg. Or the guy who did the Jaws sequels.

Numanoid 07-02-03 04:37 PM

I hear it will be "directed" by Tobe Hooper.

Stoolie 07-02-03 04:50 PM

Is there any confirmation of this? Hopefully they would kill the project if Spielberg was out. It just wouldn't be right to have anyone else direct it.

I couldn't see this one being if Spielberg/Lucas/Ford weren't involved.

What a bunch of BS. Of course Spielberg is doing it! MOD, DELETE THIS THREAD.

It's great to see Sean Connery's career can be summed up as "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen star ..."

No Spielberg=no ticket bought by me. I got burnt with JP3, not letting it happen this time.
IMO, they should shelve it.

Steven Spielberg IS Directing Indiana Jones 4
Source: Lucasfilm Wednesday, July 2, 2003

What would Indiana Jones 4 be without director Steven Spielberg? Well, luckily you won't have to worry about that.

This morning we mentioned that Sean Connery told Entertainment Tonight he would be interested in starring in the fourth installment, but that "Steven was not doing the movie."

Connery said he had received a call and was told that, but Lucasfilm tells ComingSoon.net it's not so - "There is no truth to the rumor."

Steven Spielberg will still direct Indiana Jones 4 from a script by Frank Darabont and Harrison Ford will pick up the whip one more time.

Well, his stunt double will probably be doing all of the whip picking up, but Ford will certainly be picking up the check, frowning the whole way to the bank of course ;)

Actually this is good news, I'm up for another good Indy movie - thanks for the news.

A movie w/ less annoying shrieking by its female lead - and most of all, a movie that doesn't abruptly end right when it is getting interesting before the ninety minute mark (iirc).

and no kids unless they get eaten.

I dont see why they're making Indy 4 in the first place. The trilogy is enough.

then I guess you hate King Kong, Halloween, Psycho, and all the other movies with females shreiking.

Spoiler:

How does it end abruptly? Only fault I had with it was the one survivor, but some of the scenes were right out of Gorgo and other earlier Dino movies.

I absolutley love it.

OK, thanks for the JP3 spoilers. If you want to discuss Jurassic Park, start a new thread or find an existing Jurassic Park thread.

The movie's been around for almost two years, you've had ample time to see it.

But don't waste your time, it ain't that great. ;)

Sorry, you are wrong. Spoiler tags for both new and old films.

It's really not rocket science.

Dr. DVD 07-03-03 11:26 AM

Well, what he posted isn't much of a spoiler, just a tid-bit.

Spoiler:
The movie doesn't end with just one survivor!
