Worst Movie of the Summer (so far)

So, there really have not been too many good movies this summer. All I can think of is Nemo and 28 days later.

What do you feel has been the worst so far?

My personal choice is Matrix Revolutions, though I know alot of people will probably name that as their fave this summer.

Oooops, my bad, I mean Matrix Reloaded. Gotta stop doing threads at 3 a.m.

lesterlong 07-02-03 07:13 AM

Have you seen Matrix Revolutions? If so, please share spoilers with the rest of us. As for worst movie of the summer, that's easily Hulk. Possibly the worst movie I saw in the theatre.

harosa 07-02-03 07:43 AM

HULK has to be one of the biggest disappointments for me in a long time. This is what happens when the directors clearly have a disdain for the property and try to "elevate" it into something they can justify to themselves why they did it. Ive never been so happy to see a movie fail as much as this one. Im sure they'll make a sequel but will steer it more towards the mainstream next time.

matome 07-02-03 07:47 AM

Hulk by far, followed with Bruce Almighty

GmoneyOwnsYou 07-02-03 08:05 AM

Allthough I havent seen it yet, I say Charlies Angels 2. Not only was it a dissapointment in terms of box office bucks. But apparently it just isnt a good movie. Only summer movies Ive seen so far are 2 Fast 2 Furious (which I have a guilty pleasure for), Matrix Reloaded, and T3. I liked all three of those. But I'll have to go with CA:FT or Hulk. But the best summer movie by far has to be T3. Absolutly incredible!

taa455 07-02-03 08:36 AM

Dumb and Dumberer

PixyJunket 07-02-03 08:56 AM

Matrix Reloaded, not that I was highly looking forward to it.. I enjoyed the first and wanted to see what they had coming up. What a horrible, laughable, self-masturbatory crap fest.

jhansla 07-02-03 09:46 AM

Hulk, Bruce Almighty, Charlie's Angels 2. They were all aload of crap

T3 on the other hand was fecking amazing. I saw it last night and it rocked. Funny cause I thought it looked crap from the trailers.

mookyman 07-02-03 10:44 AM

I had a lot of fun at both Hulk and Charlie's Angels, and I think their disappointing response says alot about the public's rejection of earnest entertainment in exchange for cynical product. What a shame.

I'd have to go with Wrong Turn as the worst so far.

FalconH10 07-02-03 10:56 AM

I don't know how these votes are coming up but I would have to say Dumb and Dumberer and From Justin to Kelly would be racking up the votes if anyone actually saw them :)

I wonder if the three people that saw Justin to Kelly are on this board?

mdc3000 07-02-03 11:07 AM

I'd say hands down, 2 Fast 2 Furious was the worst movie of the summer so far...that and From Justin To Kelly (yes, i saw it).... TERRIBLE.

I'd agree with those 2 movies beeing the worst of the summer.

---These movies are NOT the worst of the summer---
The Matrix Reloaded was awesome...
Bruce Almighty was pretty funny
2 Fast 2 Furious was alright, but not the worst...
Finding Nemo was AWESOME...
The Hulk was bad, but I thought the CGI was pretty sweet...
Charlies Angels FT looks ok. I'm seing it today. I dont think it'll be the worst....

grunter 07-02-03 11:28 AM

Remember back when people were saying what a great summer this was looking to be?

Remember when I nay-sayed that?

grunter does the Church Lady "superior" dance.

:p

Lastblade 07-02-03 11:32 AM

From Justin To Kelly, that has got to be the worst movie of the year, let alone the summer.

lol, I never thought it was gonna be a great summer. Last year we had Minority Report and Signs this year we've got nothing that good.

Cat 07-02-03 12:09 PM

The Hulk has been the worst movie I have seen this year. In fact, it is one of the worst movies I have ever seen period!

You don't see many movies then...

the aftermath 07-02-03 12:21 PM

The Matrix: Reloaded. So far.

PJsig08 07-02-03 12:26 PM

Worst I've seen? Hulk.

The worst out there? Dumb and Dumberer, FJ2K, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Charlie's Angels 2...should I keep going?

sundog 07-02-03 12:33 PM

Bruce Almighty

Definitely the worst of Hollywood's summer fare. The other Hollywood stuff I've also seen this summer: The best being Hulk, then in descending order from The Matrix Reloaded, Identity (kinda summer), X2, Down With Love, Phone Booth (another one on the cusp), The Italian Job, to Confidence. But that Jim Carrey movie is just a pile, even Confidence had some redeeming facets.

Iron_Giant 07-02-03 01:14 PM

I took my daughter and one of her friends to see "From Justin to Kelly", it was by far one of the worst films I have ever seen in the movie theater (Star Dust Memories is the worst ever, the only movie I have ever walked out on). The singing was not as bad as I thought it was going to be, everything else was bad. It did remind me of the old beach movies from the 50's.

It should have been a direct to DVD release (which it almost is).

Trust me, Bruce Almighty was 10 times better than From Justin to Kelly.

Didn't Phone Booth come out about 3 months ago? Since when was something released in April a summer movie?

my 2 cents

I don't see that many movies in the theaters (mainly watch my dvds), but what I have seen this year has been some of the worst piece of cinema dung I have EVER seen in my life.

1) hulk.. $150 M green turd.. this film was never actually released.. it escaped and it needs to be put back to the stygian emerald depths from whence it came. It is the cinematic experience of watching the infamous Morpheus rave speech from Matrix Reload stretched out to 2.5 hours... remember when Pinhead from Hellraiser said "i am pain?" well, that porcupined cenobite ain't got nothing on this film.. this film ...is...pain.... absolutey horrid...should be only seen as a double bootleg feature along side of Roger Corman's Fantastic Four.

2) matrix reloaded. no excuse.. no reason to even make this film. not quite as painful as the hulk, but that isn't saying much...

just on these 2 films alone, Jason X is starting to look good in retrospect.

the only other films I plan to see this year are 28 days later, T3 and LOTR final part.... that's pretty much it..
