Pirates of the Caribbean: Disney's first Pg-13

I was kinda suprised by this. I thought for sure disney would cut it down to a Pg. What do you think?

Groucho 07-01-03 01:58 PM

I thought it was going to be rated Arrrrrrrr.

DodgingCars 07-01-03 02:03 PM

I imagine it's all for violence/action.

I heard it got that rating because of all the booty.

Justin00787 07-01-03 04:13 PM

I didn't know this was a Disney movie, im not going to see it now

mewmartigan 07-01-03 04:14 PM

When Pirates are in the 'hood, are they looking for ghetto booty?

Do you have something against Disney?

I have a friend who read the script (he works for an agency)... and he said the script was really good -- he expects the movie will be quite good.

And.. he's a very picky about movies...

Yeah, what a shocker that a movie named after a ride at Disneyland would be released by Disney.

psss.. should we tell him about The Haunted Mansion?

Charlie Goose 07-01-03 05:44 PM

I am looking forward to seeing this, and not just because PotC is my favorite attraction in all of DisneyWorld. It looks exciting, plus it's got Johnny Depp. I'm not a super huge fan of Depp, but he always picks interesting stuff.

I will also be skipping The Haunted Mansion. I love that ride too, but Eddie Murphy? Feh, I tell you, FEH!

Yes it's getting to the point where anything he's in is guaranteed to suck. Kinda sad.

mllefoo 07-01-03 06:07 PM

I heard the only thing related to the ride at all is the name and the fact that there are pirates. Too bad. I was hoping to see those wenches chasing after those fat dudes, and the fat chick chasing after the skinny dudes. I'm still mad that the chasing thing was removed from the ride at Disneyland. Bastards.

I heard Depp talking about how Kieth Richards was his inspiration for the character he played. He went on and on about how Pirates were the rock stars of their era. Man, I want to know what drugs he's on, coz I want some.

inri222 07-01-03 06:07 PM

What about Touchstone and Buena Vista, Disney owns them and they have released R rated movies.

kevin75 07-01-03 06:54 PM

can we hope that it is rated pg-13 due to scantily clad keira knightly?

Disney's first PG-13 related Pirate movie maybe. Did you not see Pearl Harbor? The Sixth Sense? Unbreakable? Signs? The entire Vista Series? Arrgh its threads like these that anger moi.

When you include all the various subdivisions, it's fairly hard to avoid disney products.

This coming from a man with Emperor's New Groove, Lilo and Stitch and several other Disney movies in his collection.

QuAcKeR 07-02-03 01:51 AM

It's the first PG-13 released under the Walt Disney Pictures name... not the first PG-13 ever from a subsidiary of the company. A rather big deal...

Eh, Johnny Depp is the worst actor ever and I would never own any movie he sticks his fat nose in. I wouldn't be caught dead watching this movie. Especially not on opening night, with some nachos and a Cherry Coke.

The one thing I've really learned from the previews? Johnny Depp's character's name is Captain Jack Sparrow. They must say it half a dozen times.

"You remember Captain Jack Sparrow"
"You're, forgetting, I'm Captain Jack Sparrow"
"You must find Captain Jack Sparrow"
"Captain Jack Sparrow should Captain Jack Sparrow the Captain Jack Sparrow?" "Captain Jack Sparrow."

Good lord, call him Captain Jack, call him Captain Sparrow, call him Jack Sparrow, call him Captain, call him Jack, call him Sparrow BUT STOP CALLING HIM CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW! Those previews have driven me insane.
