TCM rates "Clash of the Titans" TV-MA !!

So, I was watching the Harryhausen retrospect on TCM over the weekend and I had to laugh at the TV-MA rating TCM branded this movie over the (I would assume) quick shot of a woman's breast (while breast feeding a child) and rear nudity. Jeez, this movie was originally rated PG by the MPAA. TCM should just do what the other cable movie channels do and list the MPAA rating and why it's rated as such.

Secondly, the print for "Clash" was horrid, does the DVD look as bad? The letterbox edition of "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger", a 1977 film by the way, looked significantly better than "Clash".

The reason you ask, tcm is a program on regular basic cable, and well, can be viewed by anyone, so I guess this is to play it safe. they played cool hand luke last night to a tv-ma. Jaws got one as well, as did bullit, logans run, the woody allen movies, terms of endierment, close encounters, ect. Also, the 's' word is still not a term used on mainstreme tv yet.

"Close Encounters" really? I don't remember the language being all that harsh.

I thought "NYPD Blues" had the occasional "s" word, maybe I'm wrong.

That Ray Harryhausen weekend on TCM was great! And yes, the print for Clash of the Titans was pretty foul - but Jason and the Argonauts looked good for its age - and the Mysterious Island print was ok, if a little muddy...

I'd never seen these films before, and of course my wife hates them, I might have to see what's available on DVD now ;)

taped "Jason and the Argonaughts" - can't wait to sit down and watch it. Could have kicked myself for missing "Mighty Joe Young" - thrilled to find out that the American Film Institute, here in DC is showing it on the large screen!
