Time to bump this thread. I've seen the trailer a couple times for this new movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, Blood Diamonds. I think he's playing an Australian in this one, and from the dialogue they included in the trailer, this is the ABSOLUTE WORST Australian accent I've ever heard in my life!

I didn't "judge". I said I think he's playing an Australian, because that's what it sounded like to me. All you had to do was politely correct me and point out it was South African, and I would have replied with a simple "oops, my bad" or something similar, but you were shitty, and it wasn't necessary. End of story.

I believe the snap judgment comment was about what accent DiCaprio was using.
I knew it was supposed to be South African and I know it sounds horrible.

I dont find anything wrong with Leo's accent.
The worst I have heard for all of the 30 minutes I allowed my eyes and ears to endure, was Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson's accents for the horrid K-19 Widowmaker

Missing however from the entire discussion:
- Johnny Depp in From Hell. God that one is like nails on a black board for me. Why is he always attempting a british accent?
- In Twin Peaks (the series), the scene with the Norwegians. That is very bad norwegian, and an even worse accent when they speak english.
- Many many Boston accents. Robin Williams comes to mind in Good Will Hunting. there were some moments that make a bostonian blush. I love listening for those in films, and of course up against Damon who is quite authentic with his Boston accent, the shotcomings of Williams' attempt are evident.
- DiCaprio in Titanic.... try at least....
- A recent one.... Dustin Hoffman in Perfume: The story of a murderer. Very amusing performance but the vocals were way off.
- Rade Serbedzija - (Ivan Tretiak ) in The Saint (though I've heard him use this accent in another film. If its his real accent its bloody awful)
- Val Kilmer in The Saint... Specifically as the Gay German hit man in the airport or train station (can't recall), Faust something or other... and even worse, the poet character (name also escapes me).
- Any alien in the 3 latest star wars films, that try to sound ethnic.

I'll nominate (or nominate again) Denise Richards in "Drop Dead Gorgeous". Forget bad accent, how about not bothering to do an accent at all?
