I'm absolutely floored by the number of kids* here who have never seen a Godfather film... The first two films, while they may or may not be your thing, are widely regarded as among the best American films ever made. Obviously, many of you have little interest in the history of American cinema... And I'm talking about 1972 and 1974 here, not 1929. The Godfather films should be required viewing for anyone with an interest in cinema... Not just the gangster genre.
I'm sure I'll see "The Godfather" someday, but I'm not looking forward to it. You see, I generally despise the gangster genre, especially mafia movies. Hate hate hate them. No matter how well-done this movie is, I am certain I won't like it, and have you ever tried to watch a movie with that sort of mindset? It colors your entire viewing experience no matter how hard you might try to clear your mind beforehand. At best, I'll end up saying "Yeah, it's okay." But it'll still be a mafia movie.

BTW, I'm 37 years old. My DVD collection is linked below.

Don't count my responses... I didn't give choices for either one, but I've seen "Topsy-Turvy" (didn't like it) and "Baby, It's You" (didn't like it). Technically, they'd be my favorite Leigh and Sayles films, even though I didn't like them.

don't worry, I was breaking it down to see what the overall number of respondee's actually saw one or any of these directors films. Just a mere mention, like yours, denotes that you actually know these directors and their films.

No Oscar nod for that. Okay performance. Wasn't in it that much. Only Oscar nod to date is for Pulp Fiction. A far better performance.

Rasaan gets my vote for "favorite reply to this thread"

is that a category?

Oh and Brando being Dead was just a natural way of thinking after seeing both The Score and The Island Of Dr. Moreau.

Perhaps he should star in Better Off Dead 2
