OK, eww! John Travolta in "Bridget Jones" sequel?
 

Just saw the following on IMDB news. Please please please let this be an awful rumor. I can't stand John Travolta. He would definitely ruin this film. Anyone know what happened to Colin Firth? I read just last week that both he and Hugh Grant would be returning. Why on earth would anyone pick Travolta!???


The producers of the Bridget Jones's Diary sequel have turned to John Travolta to provide the romance after George Clooney was vetoed by lead star Renee Zellweger. The Chicago actress told producers their first choice of Clooney to take over from Colin Firth as the love interest was unsuitable because of a previous relationship between the pair. However, the undeterred producers have now approached Pulp Fiction star Travolta to star in the adaptation of Helen Fielding's follow-up novel Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason.

I am more stoked than ever for this film.

That sounds like an odd pairing. I wonder if Travolta will/can do a British accent.

Travolta is a hamfisted, scenery chewing actor of the the first order. He's done some very good work in the past (SNF, Primary Colors, etc) ,but he's running on fumes nowadays and this performance could be a potential 'trainwreck'.

as long as Travolta's religion has nothing to do with the film, I'm cool with it.

I quite enjoyed the first Bridget Jones. but if Travolta is in this...I will be VERY wary. He hasn't given a good performance in years. He overacts, and badly...not to mention I don't think I can buy Travolta as being British. Though...agh...blah.

I doubt he'll be replacing Colin Firth as her love interest... it seems more likely to me that John Travolta will play himself, and fulfil the role Colin Firth had in the book of an actor that Bridget fancies and gets to interview.

That is what I am hoping as well. Although, I can think of better choices of actors for Bridget to have a crush on :)

When the guy sneaks drugs into Bridget's suitcase and she is in prison. I did not seem to fit into the storyline at all. Hopefully, they will not have it in the film.

I can't even stand Renee anymore, let alone John Travolta. He's just praying for Tarantino to do the Vega Brothers movie so he can resurrect his career again.

I agree, I think John Travolta will play Colin Firth while Colin Firth plays Mark Darcy.
