SOLDIER BLUE- 70's Western-anyone seen it?
Has anyone watched SOLDIER BLUE with Candice Bergen and Peter Strauss?
I think it came out in the early 70's.
Supposedly there was a lot of controversy due to it's violence, and nudity.
I've heard of the movie, never seen it.
Of course, compared to some of todays movies, the violent content of the movie may be somewhat diminished.
So, who has watched it?
What did you think of it?
Just how violent is it?
I like Westerns. Would this be a good Western?
I rarely hear of it, so I guess it's not a classic Western.
But, then again, it doesn't matter. If it's as good as A Town Called Bastard, then I'll probably love it.

I saw it way back when. I was in junior high, I think. My family was vacationing in Jackson Hole, WY and it was playing at a local theater. It was rated R so my sister took me.
I do remember it being pretty violent. There were several unsettling scenes. One was a massacre of Indian women/children. Another one of them was
I'd be interested in seeing it again just to see it if it was as bad as I felt it was back then. I remember walking out feeling stunned.

Image Entertainment had planned on releasing this film on laserdisc a number of years back but ultimately never happened. The European cuts of the film are reportedly more violent with the aforementioned massacre intact. To my knowledge the only DVD release of this film is a German release, UK VHS editions are also uncut.
