Malkovich to play Kubrick imposter (sounds like Close Up to me)
From IMDb:
While this claims to be based on a true story, this sounds a hell of a lot like Kiaristami's 1990 film Close Up
John Malkovich, perhaps the only actor ever to have his name included in the title of a non-biographical movie -- Being John Malkovich -- will play a conman being Stanley Kubrick in the forthcoming Color Me Kubrick, according to published reports. Malkovich's real-life character reportedly traveled through London in the late '90s passing himself off as the U.S. director, even though he looked not a thing like him. The film's writer is Brian Cook, a co-producer of Eyes Wide Shut.

Sounds cool to me. I always trust John Malkovich. He seems to be able to choose good scripts and talented people to work with.
I never really heard from Kubrick about the made-for-tv-travesty, The Shining. So I don't think that's he'd be made about something like this. I look forward to hearing Kubrick's commenta--...oh nevermind.

I remember this case. This guy looked absolutely and utterly different from Stan. In point of fact, he looked a lot like Jack Kervorkian.
I know for the last years of his life Kubrick, while hardly the bizarre recluse ignorant people made him out to be, wasn't exactly a social butterfly, but I'm still amazed people fell for this.

Though kneejerk reaction tells me this won't even come close to the formal brilliance of Kiarostami's work, it could be interesting.

Wow, this thread is old!
I just saw Color Me Kubrick and am sad to say it is a truly awful film. So boring. I figured I'd be amused by looking for the stylistic references to Kubrick's films, but there were only a few and they weren't very clever. Malkovich is very good, as usual, but the script and direction were really uninspired and made for a very loooong 86 minutes.
