^Are you referring to Marcel the projectionist?
Is so then yeah there were scenes in the Screenplay that shows how they first met when Shoshanna was a few years younger and first began to work in the movie theater.

Yup that's the guy. Hopefully we get to see those scenes restored for a directors cut...

MARCEL!! Great, I like him a lot. Films by him always comes out a popular one.

Saw it again. Did anyone else notice the secret hand signals Hicox and Stiglitz give each other in the tavern?

It was right after Dieter Von Hellstrom gets up to retrieve cards to initiate the game.

Re: Inglorious Bastards - Tarantino's Next Project!

Just saw it tonight to a surprisingly packed theater. Loved every second of it. It's definitely my favorite Tarantino film with Reservoir Dogs still a very close 2nd. Truly remarkable film.

Re: Inglorious Bastards - Tarantino's Next Project!

Hope you guys can help here.

The last war movie I saw with the girlfriend was Rambo, she got pretty upset with the pigs getting killed and the scene with the hunting dogs getting blown up. She doesn't mind the parts with exploding people, just the animal gore.

Is there anything here that would upset her in this movie?

Thanks guys!

^There is no animal gore in the movie, only lots of people getting killed.

I can help. Tell her to get her priorities in check.

In all seriousness. I do not believe any fuzzy animals get hurt in the movie.

actually, there is one animal that gets brutally massacred in one of the more graphic, but highly satisfying scenes in the movie...
Spoiler:
Adolf Hitler

He isn't deserving of even being called an animal.

Ironically, the Nazis were pretty much animal conservationists and had strict laws for treatments of animals during the War. Hitler himself was an avid dog lover. There's nothing that would make her sick unless she's offended by an insane amount of Nazis dying.

If she's anything like my girlfriend (who grew up on a dairy farm), tell her she'll enjoy the sound of some cows mooing (the technical term, I learned, is "lowing"). They're audible in the surround channels during the opening scene.

And I think we can all agree there is no wrong way to kill a Nazi. Also wasn't Hitler a vegetarian?

Regarding the animal lover: I've found that people with naive hangups about the particularities of movies won't appreciate a film like IB and will not enjoy the film. My brother in law (who's 25 years old and neither German or a Jew) told me over the weekend that he doesn't want to see it because he makes it a rule never to watch any movie with Nazis in it. You know what, it's probably better that you just skip this movie all together weirdo.

Re: Inglorious Bastards - Tarantino's Next Project!

Basterds only needs to make 2 million bucks this weekend (which it should) to officially be Tarantino's highest grossing movie unajusted for inflation obviously

Ok....I seriously need this confirmed but in that first shot of Landa asking if he was on the LaPadite property while still sitting in the car...are those digital cows on the left? Possibly digitally inserted? I've seen the film several times already and those cows just stick out to me.

Re: Inglorious Bastards - Tarantino's Next Project!

Saw this again tonight, second time. And it was just as great the second time around. Every single minute of this film, every frame, is just perfect IMO. And I now think after a repeat viewing that this is QT's best film. His masterpiece.
