Matrix or Terminator?

I know we haven't seen T3 or Revolutions yet, but when its all said and done which trilogy will be better?

atari2600 06-07-03 06:04 PM

matrix. by far.

zito 06-07-03 06:11 PM

If T3 is any good i think its close. T1 and T2 are just as good as Matrix1 and 2.

Before this is moved to Movie Talk:

It's far too soon to judge, but up to this point it would have to be the Terminator series hands down. The original Terminator was a groundbreaking film for it's time, as was the Matrix. T2 is the movie by which all other action movies are judged, while Reloaded to me was a bit of a letdown. Revolutions I have no idea about, and of course T3 is being put down before it's even been released. Personally I think it will be a great film even if it doesn't live up to T2 standards.

ArchibaldTuttle 06-07-03 06:27 PM

right now I would have to say the matrix because it's so fresh, ten years from now it will probably just depend on what kind of mood I am in

I have to vote Matrix on this one. The Terminator movies are just too full of paradoxes. The more you think about them, the less sense they make. With The Matrix, The more you think, the deeper the story gets IMO.
In the end though, they're both excellent series so far.

zito 06-07-03 06:41 PM

I think it will depend on the 3rd movies. Right now i think they are about even.

T1 vs. Matrix - Matrix

T2 vs. Reloaded - T2

T3 vs. Reloaded - ?

Actually there was a pretty interesting article posted on this forum a while back, about how T2 made perfect sense time travel wise. Maybe I can find it....

I think this is the page...

I know I may be in the minority but I think the whole Matrix phenomenon is over rated!

For style, action, effects and a great story I prefer T1 & T2 anytime..

I appreciate the Warchoski brothers for being different and original but I still DON'T think they can compete with Cameron's ability as a writer/director

my $0.2 cents

Matrix I and II can't hold a candle to T I and II.

(The first Matrix was very good, however; Reloaded was fair.)

theneobez 06-07-03 08:46 PM

Matrix

Singhal 06-07-03 09:06 PM

Easily the Matrix, it's along the same lines as Star Wars and Indy

SCHMEGGA 06-07-03 10:07 PM

Matrix easy.

Deckard-10 06-07-03 10:34 PM

Matrix.

Easily Terminator 1 and 2.

But I enjoyed the Matrix 1.

One major difference no one's brought up yet is the amount of time between the films within each series.

I mean, the Terminator movies were made 10 years apart from each other. One and two are unique b/c they were able to push the bounds of technology and develope new standards for special effects within films. Had two been made only two or three years after the first one, I doubt it would have been able to push the envelope as far as it did.

However, the Matrix films have all come out within a relatively short amount of time from one another. The first Matrix did set a new standard, but Reloaded and Revolutions have come out so close to the original, that it will be almost impossible for either to raise the bar as high or higher then the first film did.

For action, i'd take the Terminator series (so far).

However, the Matrix series gets my vote becuase it blew me away both with its story and with its never-before-seen effects.

And the winner is...

Lord Of The Rings

- best movie trilogy ever. And one of the few trilogies actually planned as a trilogy and not a single movie and two sequels (like Terminator).

fumanstan 06-08-03 10:27 PM

Matrix for me. Lord of the Rings is actually much farther down on my list of trilogies. Both Indy and BTTF are ahead of it, and so far the X-Men movies are high up there too.

Mittman 06-08-03 11:42 PM

Very close call, but I have a feeling that The Matrix will prevail.

My ranking of the films:
T2
Matrix
TMR
T1

I guess we can say for sure in November.
